I've said it before and I'll say it again. I LOVE smoothies - especially in the heat of Summer! Satisfying and filling, they are my go-to, never-fail breakfast and snack of choice. As long as they are they aren't of the Jamba Juice/sugary, pre-made mix variety, smoothies are nourishing, convenient and fun to make. After relying on green smoothies for quite some time, I decided to change it up but … [Read more...]

Not Another “Diet”
It seems like I'm always on another "diet" these days which is ironic for a health and wellness coach who doesn't believe in diets. This time, I've found myself on a the Candida Diet and while the other cleanses I've blogged about have been by choice and for the sake of research, this particular "diet", or way of eating, is doctor's orders. So what gives? I may be treading on TMI territory here … [Read more...]
Spring Cleanse – Day 3
If Day 1 was difficult, Day 3 was my most umcomfortable day on the cleanse. It didn't help that work chose Day 3 to order in 'witchcraft sandwiches and Magnolia Bakery cupcakes. But more than that, I had taken an herbal laxative on Night 2 (in lieu of the suggested colonic recommended on a cleanse) which caused terrible stomach cramping. Day 3 was also more stressful than usual for me at work and … [Read more...]

It can be good to understand the true feeling of hunger so this is worthwhile but after a 6 mile run yesterday, I may have cheated and … [Read more...]

Eager to clean my eating slate for a few days and try another cleansing ritual that I might be able to recommend to my clients, yesterday I began my first day on the Blue Print Cleanse. I decided to go with their three-day Juice til Dinner cleanse, not a true cleanse but a hybrid of juice and raw food. Because what I've learned after all these years inside this supercomputer is that it needs a … [Read more...]

Most Inflammatory Foods: Friend or Foe
My Health Coach Training Program at Integrative Nutrition is nearing an end. As I reflect on everything I've learned about myself and my diet over the past year, I've noticed that one theme has emerged - ย inflammation. The topic of inflammation is particularly poignant because inflammation causes illness. Thus, the goal is to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Thus, the question is, what are the most … [Read more...]
