Tips for Traveling with a Toddler

08/30/21

Last year around this time, I wrote about how to take a car trip with an infant. Now that airline travel is back and we've flown with our now toddler, I've gotten some questions about tips for traveling with a toddler. I'm no expert, but here are some tips for traveling with a toddler that have worked for us. *All tips herein apply to domestic travel only. One // Plan flights around nap … [Read more...]

Tulum Travel Guide: Kid-friendly Tulum

08/18/21

I promised a Tulum travel guide when we returned from our trip. Before I dive in, a lot of people asked me, "is Tulum kid-friendly." The short answer is not really, but it can be so I'll include some tips for a more kid-friendly Tulum experience. Why Tulum Tulum has been a bucket-list travel destination for my husband for awhile. For me, it was less so. Now that we've been, I can see why … [Read more...]

Our South Carolina Family Vacation

06/03/21

After a long year and a half at home - and what felt like an even longer Winter, we were looking forward to getting away together as a family as soon as it felt safe enough to travel. Our South Carolina family vacation ended up being just the thing we needed to ease back into traveling. Since I'm writing this as the Covid pandemic is beginning to hopefully wind down, I will add that we discussed … [Read more...]

Evive Smoothie Review + promo code | Marissa Vicario | Health Coach

Eat the rainbow - I've always both practiced and preached this simple approach to eating. Flooding my body with nutrients from a variety of fruit, veggies and superfoods is the #1 way I feel like my most vivacious self. Of course, the best way to do this is to eat whole foods, but another way to get more nutrients than you could possibly get from one meal is by drinking smoothies. I recently had … [Read more...]

Six Resources for New Moms

04/12/21

When I was a new mom and even a mom-to-be, I couldn't have made it through those early days without the advice and support of other moms. Not only moms who had been there and done that, but also moms who were in the trenches with me. I've shared openly about my postpartum journey and because of that, I wanted to compile a list of resources for new moms that I found helpful when I was navigating … [Read more...]

Baby Registry Must Haves (0-1 year)

03/29/21

About half-way through my pregnancy, I started to panic about everything I would need - and didn't yet have - to bring a baby home. I spent hours and days franticly Googling, comparing products and reading reviews to determine the baby registry must haves I needed to add to my own personal registry. By the time Valentina was born, we still didn't have everything we needed, but it ended up being … [Read more...]

In honor of Black History Month and the inauguration of the first African American, Asian American female Vice President, there's no better time to highlight some of the black-owned wellness, lifestyle and beauty brands I've been trying and eyeing. What's even better is that many of the businesses on this list are also woman-owned and some are even local to me in New York City. There's no better … [Read more...]

PlateJoy: My Meal Planning Secret + a Discount Code

12/07/20

Most of us have been home for the majority of this year and if you're like me, you've cycled through cook-at-home fatigue to ordering too much takeout and back again. I feel my best with a home cooked meal but if I'm short on time or haven't planned ahead, takeout wins. Personally, I like to make home cooking a consistent part of my life and takeout a once-in-awhile affair and that's where … [Read more...]

It's unfortunate that the three things women fear It's unfortunate that the three things women fear most are the very things that are crucial for weight loss and the best ways to boost metabolism.

1. Muscle - want to speed up your metabolism and burn fat while you literally sit there? Build muscle. No, you won't "bulk up" even if you lift heavy.

2. Protein - it's the Number 1 macronutrient women don't eat enough of. Protein builds muscle, muscle burns fat. Eat more protein!

3. Carbs - We've been conditioned to fear carbs to the point that most women don't eat enough of them. Low carb diets will train your body to store fat so while you may initially lose weight (and fast) on a low carb diet, long term, you'll gain that weight right back.

Follow me @MarissaVicario for more realistic, diet-free weight loss and nutrition tips. 💚💋💪🏻
