Chia Seed Parfait

04/02/12

One of the things I love most about cooking is not just creating recipes, but assembling recipes! The chia seed parfait I created this morning was less about cooking and more about putting the pieces together like a puzzle. I just used what I had in my kitchen to create this breakfast treat. And if you make it in a… Read More

David’s Superfood Smoothie

03/31/12

It all started rather innocently. I had been slipping greens into what had previously been David’s all-fruit blueberry smoothie. He didn’t seem to care, or even notice for that matter. As long as they still looked blue, I was in the clear. Then I went to Long Beach and saw David Wolfe make a superfood smoothie. What can I say,… Read More

Five for Friday: Terri Cole

03/30/12

If you don’t know this woman already, you’re going to want to. Wise, empowered and luminous, Terri Cole is inspiring men and women everywhere to live fearless and free. She is well-known for her signature question that has become one of my own favorite mantras: “If Not You…Who?” “If Not Now…When?” Q1.  What is the #1 wellness practice you live… Read More

Healthy Hot Spot: Dig Inn Seasonal Market

03/29/12

When I worked in an office, I longed for healthy lunch options. Believe it or not, I eventually even swore off  deli salads because of the lack of organic produce available and the negative energy of the guys who slapped them together at warp speed behind the counter. (Hint: Think about the energy in the environment where your food is… Read More

The Kitchen Counter Cooking School

03/28/12

“For most people, the only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking, you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude” – Julia Child I’m a self-proclaimed bookworm and David likes to joke that I always  have my nose stuck in a book. My favorite books are usually the ones that have been recommended to me. But I stumbled on… Read More

Reflections on Running and Why I’m Taking a Hiatus

03/27/12

It was two weeks ago. I was running with David. I felt slow and heavy and in pain and it wasn’t the first time. I have been battling issues with my posture, pain in my joints and tight hips and hamstrings for well over a year. I’ve sought treatment, but mostly ignored the pain and hoped it would go away… Read More

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics: Vegan, Cruelty-free Makeup

03/26/12

When I revealed what’s inside my bathroom cabinets a few weeks ago, I was forced to take a good hard look at my makeup. Admittedly, I wear less makeup now on a daily basis than I used to, and I’ve overhauled my makeup bag every couple of years as I’ve grown more conscious of natural products and  earth-friendly companies, but… Read More

Moroccan-spiced Fries

03/25/12

I know what you’re thinking. Fries? On this blog? These aren’t just any fries. They’re acorn squash fries and you may want to hurry and try them before squash is out of season at the end of the month. I knew that I wanted to make some comfort food with this squash and create fries but I wanted these fries… Read More

Five For Friday: Gabrielle Bernstein

03/23/12

When I first met Gabrielle Bernstein in 2008, she was speaking about happiness at the New York Junior League. At the time, I had a lot of drama in my life and never considered I could be a happy person. I was going through the motions. I thought to myself then that Gabby was the kind of person I’d like… Read More

This was the only trip in recent memory I didn't o This was the only trip in recent memory I didn't overpack for and while it was a little uncomfortable and at times I hated my outfits, it was perfect for bringing home everything we bought and eliminating the stress of re-packing at the end. Everyone knows that feeling of not being able to fit everything in a suitcase. We didn't have to buy an extra one. 💚💋🧳
Spoiler Alert: I did not have one bad matcha in Ja Spoiler Alert: I did not have one bad matcha in Japan. They just get it. Clearly. One thing I noticed is that alternative milk options were typically limited to soy or oat milk so most of the matcha I had was with oat milk. All of it was iced because summer. 💚💋🍵
