Hunt for Healthy: Taste Pavilion @ Foodbuzz Festival

11/11/10

After the morning blogger sessions, I hobbled over to the Metreon with my boyfriend in tow for the Taste Pavilion. I was super hungry but and excited to get tasting. The hunt for healthy was on! First stop was Frog Hollow. These pears were so sweet and luscious. Best I've ever had! And their dried peaches were pretty awesome too ... yum. The Sweets Life demoed her Cranberry Bruschetta at the … [Read more...]

Saturday Sessions @ Foodbuzz Fest

11/10/10

I woke up bright and early on Saturday ready to enjoy a morning of educational sessions that would help me develop as a blogger but my feet had other plans. I had spent Thursday walking around the city attending a marathon of meetings for work in a pair of flats. By the end of the day my feet felt tired but when I looked down I saw massive blisters. Every woman has had a blister or two in her … [Read more...]

Food Truck Friday @ Foodbuzz Fest

11/09/10

As Friday afternoon wore on and the evening's festivities drew closer, I was anticipating the Foodbuzz Festival's Welcome Reception at Fort Mason themed as a Street Food Fare. 5:45 p.m. krept around way too soon and I had no luck making it to the shuttle on time so my boyfriend drove me to the Marina. When we arrived, I realized that our Street Food Fare was in the same vicinity as Off the Grid's … [Read more...]

A Healthy Halloween: Raw Superfood Peanut Butter Cups

11/04/10

Halloween has come and gone but that doesn't mean the sweet treats have! Halloween just isn't Halloween without tricks and treats but I wanted to make this Halloween healthy, so for the kids I handed out mini Larabars and Amazing Grass Kidz Superfood drink mix. I got a few funny looks, but I'm sure the parents appreciated it. But I figured, why should adults have all the fun!? I got this recipe … [Read more...]

When I first started teaching cooking classes, I wanted to inspire busy people to make healthy meals. One year and several successful classes later, I am accomplishing that mission in a way that leaves me feeling more nourished and fulfilled than any meal can. At last night's Easy Entertaining class, one of my regulars told me, "Whenever I'm here, it makes me want to cook!" My heart filled with … [Read more...]

Sweet Young Coconut

10/27/10

I've been feeling a little lackluster this week after a recent trip to the West Coast. Yes, I'm easily jetlagged :) ... so I picked up a young coconut on my trip to Whole Foods last night. I had heard some horror stories about opening these things but I was determined to tackle the chore. Unsure of how to proceed, I did a quick google search and happened upon these super easy illustrated … [Read more...]

Healthy on Vacation

10/25/10

The Number One question I'm asked is, " How can I stay healthy on vacation?" For me, this is really all about balance, knowing what to order and when to indulge. Vacation shouldn't be a time to stress about every little thing you eat, but it's also not wise to throw caution to the wind. Since I just returned from a vacation to Turks & Caicos, here's a sneak peak at how I did it: Start the … [Read more...]

I have been wanting to try @matcha_116 since I had heard good things and it's a short walk from SoHo in Greenwich Village. There was no line so I was happy.

The interior is bare bones which is totally fine with me, but I wouldn't necessarily say we got a warm welcome when we walked in. We were the only customers.

I thought this woman was a customer, but it turns out she was making the matcha! The woman who took my order was on the other side of the counter.

This was the set up.

I ordered the16 oz Uji matcha over ice. Milk options were oat or whole. I chose oat. Honestly, the matcha was 10/10. Strong and smooth, just like in Japan. Would totally go back.
