How to Change Your Relationship with Food

03/10/15

When I traded my boxed macaroni and cheese dinners for broccoli and brown rice and began my journey toward a healthier, whole foods way of eating, somewhere along the line I got confused. I started to equate eating a perfect diet with being perfect. Being virtuous meant eating grilled fish and steamed vegetables all day, everyday. Straying from clean food brought an onslaught of … [Read more...]

03/02/15

Letting Go ...  After the most magical bridal weekend in Louisville where I celebrated my upcoming nuptials with my family and closest friends, my travel back to New York City has been anything but. A true practice in letting go.  Two cancelled flights, a 4 a.m. wake-up for the first flight out and now a five-hour delay because of mechanical issues was not in the … [Read more...]

How to Know If Your Health Coach Is Legit

02/09/15

health coach

When I became a health coach almost six years ago, the term - and idea of health coaching as a career - was fairly new. Now that wellness is becoming top of mind in a more mainstream way (a very good thing), the term "health coach" has become more prevalent and a little more loose. Because of this, you'll see my title changing from Certified Holistic Health Coach to Certified Integrative Health … [Read more...]

A Few of My Favorite Treadmill Workouts

02/08/15

treadmill workouts

Yes, I did use the words "favorite" and "treadmill" in the same sentence, but these days I relish my treadmill workouts.  I read a New York Times article recently about treadmill workouts (The Drudgery of Treadmills). It explored why most people find the treadmill, often called the "dread mill," more difficult compared to outdoor workouts. The study it referenced found that … [Read more...]

Healthy Hot Spot: Cevich

02/07/15

Living in Lower Manhattan for the past six years was glorious but it posed it's challenges when it came to options for a quick and healthy meal on-the-go. If we wanted that quick and healthy meal to be delivered? Good luck.  Now that we've moved, the options seem limitless. Of course, I'm still a big fan of cooking at home but when we want to go out or order in, we … [Read more...]

Want to Lose Weight? Stop Doing This ONE Thing!

01/21/15

lose weight

Many would-be coaching clients come to me becausd they want to lose weight - the last five or ten pounds to be exact.  I often get emails from women desperate to "lean out," counting macros down to the milligram and "eating clean" to exhaustion, frustrated that nothing has happened.  I totally know the feeling.  For most of my 20's I felt the same way. If I was just a few … [Read more...]
