Staying Motivated in Fitness without a Goal Race

09/13/15

staying motivated in fitness - running the streets of NYC - Where I Need to Be

This post is sponsored by Wellcoin. All opinions are my own.

Whether we’re ready for it or not, Fall is here and along with apple picking and pumpkins, I associate fall with marathons. Last year I trained for the New York City Marathon which kept me staying motivated in fitness and focused on a  goal even as the weather cooled down and the mornings stayed dark. But like I said in my training and racing update, I’m not running the marathon this year.

Motivation comes in many forms, but for me it’s usually training for a goal race. Now that I’m not, I’ve had to find new ways to challenge myself for staying motivated in fitness without a goal race on the horizon.

Thank goodness for Wellcoin!

Wellcoin is the world’s first health currency which keeps me on track with making healthy choices because the more of them I log – like workouts, healthy meals and even sleep, the more coins I accumulate.

Those coins are valuable because I can use them to earn gifts like groceries from Whole Foods, meal delivery from Hello Fresh and fitness apparel from brands like PUMA and Reebok.

Making healthy choices is a reward in and of itself, but Wellcoin makes it fun and interactive which is a definite added bonus. You can connect with your friends to keep each other accountable and challenged, plus, tag your friends to earn more coins.

If you haven’t joined Wellcoin yet, sign-up here to get started with 500 coins, follow me and start earning those coins!

I have been wanting to try @matcha_116 since I had heard good things and it's a short walk from SoHo in Greenwich Village. There was no line so I was happy.

The interior is bare bones which is totally fine with me, but I wouldn't necessarily say we got a warm welcome when we walked in. We were the only customers.

I thought this woman was a customer, but it turns out she was making the matcha! The woman who took my order was on the other side of the counter.

This was the set up.

I ordered the16 oz Uji matcha over ice. Milk options were oat or whole. I chose oat. Honestly, the matcha was 10/10. Strong and smooth, just like in Japan. Would totally go back.
