My Pregnancy Fitness Routine

08/27/19

I’m not going to sugarcoat it – my pregnancy fitness routine isn’t what I expected it to be. Before pregnancy, knowing that exercise was healthy during pregnancy – it helps reduce swelling, reduces your chances of gestational diabetes, improves sleep, increases energy and lots more – I thought I would do everything I had done before. That turned out not… Read More

6 Gym Bag Essentials for Spring

04/02/19

This post is sponsored by Harvest Snaps. All opinions are my own. In the Winter, after I teach a barre class or finish my workout, I make a beeline toward home to hibernate. In the Spring, it’s not quite the same. The warmer weather and longer days mean that I make more plans and don’t mind spending extra time outside…. Read More

Round-Up: Clean Plant-based Protein Bars

03/13/19

There was a time when clients would ask my advice about protein bars and I would steer them the other direction. Protein bars Β – even (and especially) plant-based protein bars – have traditionally been laden with sugar, fillers and other ingredients rendering them more like a candy bar than a health food. However, protein bars are experiencing a comeback (from… Read More

Healthy Drinking Guide

03/04/19

If you’re a wine-lover, you’re going to want to read this. As a social drinker who appreciates a good glass – or two – of wine, but couldn’t shake the guilt I felt when drinking said glass – or two – of wine, I started to dig into how I could enjoy alcohol within the confines of my healthy lifestyle…. 10 Ways to Increase Protein Intake

02/27/19

Today is National Protein Day (yes, there really is a day for everything!) so what better time to shed light on this oh-so-important-but-often-overlooked macronutrient. According to a recent survey, 37% of Americans don’t get enough protein and I believe that! The USDA recommendation is 45 grams of protein for women, but for most people that’s far too low! It’s common… Read More

The Best Natural Lip Balms for Dry, Chapped Lips

02/26/19

The seasons are changing and basically that means the weather is still windy and frigid. That dry, cold air can wreak havoc on sensitive, exposed skin like your hands, but also your lips. Unless I’m going out, I don’t necessarily like to put much on my lips but in this climate it’s unavoidable if I want to prevent chapping and… Read More

Three Summers ago my family and I came to Chicago Three Summers ago my family and I came to Chicago and there wasn't so much as a matcha cafe in sight. Now, so much matcha, so little time. Swipe through for my thoughts in each caption. πŸ’šπŸ’‹πŸ΅

The cafe itself had the cutest decor. The matcha had no flavor and all I could taste was the almond milk.

Refreshing and not too sweet. The blueberry lemonade was the overarching flavor followed by the more bitter matcha. Perfect balance.

Just a strawberry matcha. Nothing special and not the best I've had.

This was an authentic Japanese spot with a premium matcha experience. They hand whisk it in front of you and explain how they make it. I picked up a few tips. The matcha was authentic and rich. Only oat and whole milk options.

Hand whisking and explaining the process in detail.

Not a huge fan on oat milk in matcha because I think it overpowers the flavor. Overall, this was the most authentic like you'd get in Japan.

Tbh, this was a basic coffee shop matcha but I loved the coffee shop itself. I made the mistake of agreeing that the syrup which was a sweetener. I don't like sweetened matcha so that knocked a star off.

The most underwhelming of all. Drinkable but basic. Not bad, but I had too many other really good ones to measure against.

This place has it all. The vibe, tbe energy, the neighborhood, the creative drinks, the community and a nice staff.

This was the most delicious matcha I would give this place 1000 stars if I could.

The place was bustling but they kept it moving and the staff was friendly despite the crowds and heavy drink orders.

An authentic matcha experience with a modern edge. Seriously the best matcha and experience I've had at a matcha cafe.
