How to Overcome Procrastination

marissa vicario health coach talks with aryl schlepper about how to overcome procrastination

It seems everyone would like to learn how to overcome procrastination, because we’ve all been a victim of it at one time or another. Even if you don’t consider yourself a procrastinator, sometimes we get so overwhelmed with our to-do list that procrastination sets in. I find this to be true often with my coaching clients. Changing diet and lifestyle behaviors may feel daunting or perhaps we fear failure – or even success.

I called in Apryl Schlueter of The Cheerful Mind for her tips and advice on how to overcome procrastination.

I never used to procrastinate until I became a mom of 3 and now I’m always thinking, “I can always do that tomorrow.” Sometimes life just gets too hectic for me to cross everything off the list!

These quotes found me for a reason, so I'm sharing These quotes found me for a reason, so I'm sharing for anyone who needs a reminder to choose yourself first.

Last year didn’t break me. It broke me open.

I had to sit with a hard truth: for years, I learned how to shrink. To soften my needs. To edit my voice. To make myself easier to choose.

That season is over.

This year isn’t about seeking validation.
It’s about choosing myself fully, loudly and without apology.

And trusting that what’s meant for me won’t require me to disappear first. 💚💋🫶🏻

Happy New Year! Every year, I like to post a senti Happy New Year! Every year, I like to post a sentiment I've found that inspires me for the year ahead. This one is a little longer than usual, but worth the read. 💚💋🎊

A Willingness to Keep Showing Up

I step into this new year
gently, without resolutions,
with just a simple willingness,
to keep going,
to keep moving forward.

Not the bright, declarative kind of decision
that arrives with banners and promises,
but the quieter kind,
the one that asks for nothing grand.

No transformation.
Just an honest effort
to place one foot in front of the other,
without needing it to be a victory march.

To keep going isn’t strength.
It’s letting the days arrive as they are,
some heavy,
some hollow,
some unexpectedly kind.

It’s allowing grief, fatigue, memory, and love
to share the same room,
without insisting that any of them leave.

There is no list.
No reinvention.
No deadline for becoming someone new.
There is only the steady choice
to remain present,
to trust that willingness itself
is an act of grace.

So this year begins
not with resolve, but with intention:
the intention to stay present,
the intention to try again tomorrow,
the intention to simply keep showing up.
