Six Resources for New Moms

04/12/21

When I was a new mom and even a mom-to-be, I couldn’t have made it through those early days without the advice and support of other moms. Not only moms who had been there and done that, but also moms who were in the trenches with me. I’ve shared openly about my postpartum journey and because of that, I wanted… Read More

Baby Registry Must Haves (0-1 year)

03/29/21

About half-way through my pregnancy, I started to panic about everything I would need – and didn’t yet have – to bring a baby home. I spent hours and days franticly Googling, comparing products and reading reviews to determine the baby registry must haves I needed to add to my own personal registry. By the time Valentina was born, we… Read More

My Breastfeeding Journey

07/27/20

Nobody ever told me just how hard breastfeeding can be (and many conversations I’ve had with new moms these past ten months confirm that nobody told them either). For that reason, I want to be totally transparent and honest as I share my – very long – story. But before I do, I also want to make one thing perfectly… Read More

Photo credit: The AB View Photography One of the topics that comes up constantly among my new-Mom friends is when everyone is going to start trying for Baby #2. Our last day at Disney and now I can say it’s tr Our last day at Disney and now I can say it’s truly the most magical place …

My Dad texted me a photo of me with my mom and sister on a ride at Disney circa 1982 (see my stories) and I knew I just had to recreate that moment with Valentina today.

We’ve made so many wonderful memories here and we can’t wait to come back for more! 💚💋✨

Not the Mother's Day I was looking forward to but Not the Mother's Day I was looking forward to but feeling so blessed to be a Mother at all and extra lucky it’s to this darling girl right here ...

On Thursday afternoon we picked up Valentina from daycare and I immediately knew something was wrong - her hands and feet felt cold and her body was hot. When we got home, she said she was "cold" so I took her temperature and sure enough, she had a fever.

I kept her home on Friday and by Friday night her fever was full blown. After a rough night, the pediatrician squeezed us in on Saturday morning and did a full virus panel.

Later that day, we got a call from her school that someone in her classroom tested positive. A few hours later, we got her positive result. Her pediatrician said David and I should test today and I, too, am positive.

So with canceled brunch plans and an overall feeling of disappointment, here we are, but that's Motherhood in a nutshell. Learning to lean into the unpredictability and find joy in the canceled plans and extra snuggles.

To those for whom this day brings heartache, I honor those feelings because for so many years, I felt them too. 💚💋💐
This Q is a day late in relevancy, but I’m still This Q is a day late in relevancy, but I’m still curious - what’s your margarita order? Always a spicy skinny marg for me! 💚💋🌶
