I spend a lot of time on this blog dishing it out. It’s cool because I love sharing my knowledge with readers
But sometimes it comes with the expectation that I have everything about health and nutrition all figured out when in fact, that’s not always the case.
At the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Fall Conference this weekend, founder Joshua Rosenthal said something that really hit home for me: “Even Health Coaches have health concerns.”
So true.
Many of my clients come to me wanting to “lose those last five or 10 pounds.” Fitting, because while I’ve never been a big yo-yo dieter or even overweight, I have struggled with a few pesky pounds that seemed to come out of nowhere and then wouldn’t seem to budge. No big drama but definitely not super comfortable when it came to feeling good in and out of my clothes — physically and mentally.
Losing those last five or 10 pounds can be harder than losing the first 25.
I tried juice cleanses, eliminating certain foods and even hiring a personal trainer.
Always to no avail.
Then something happened that I never even considered could be the answer — in an effort to cut back and save more money, David and I ate at home more often than ever. Five or six nights per week.
Before I knew it, those five pounds had disappeared. Vanished. Gone.
I noticed first in the fit of my clothes. Jeans that had been uncomfortable in the waist were now looser. The scale confirmed it.
It’s no wonder.
So now when my clients tell me they want to lose weight, my #1 recommendation is not what they eat, it’s where they eat.
Start there. (And for the record, what you eat is important too).
If you think you don’t have time to cook at home, you can make a healthy, delicious meal in less time than it takes to check the latest updates on Facebook. If you lack confidence in the kitchen, you can build it with a couple days of practice each week. If you’re not sure what to cook, follow recipes and create or download a week’s worth of meal plans.
The Fall edition of my Total Reset Plan, a completely virtual, 4-week meal planning service, launches today. Yes, TODAY!
I created this program as a long-term solution for an on-the-go culture of women who want to get the healthy back in their lives for good.
I so believe in the health benefits of eating real food at home more often that I’m committed to teaching people how to do it in a fun, convenient and sustainable way, with lots of support and guidance.
When you purchase the four week, virtual program, you can start it on a Monday of your choice. It’s not a cleanse or a diet so if you have parties, events or travel planned during the course of the month, it’s all good. You can do your thing and come back to it.
By the end, you’ll feel like a new person and have all the healthy habits in place to maintain it long term.
To celebrate the Total Reset launch, I’m offering $100 off to the first five women who purchase it using the code TOTALRESETFALL. The last time I offered a discount like this, they sold like hot cakes so don’t hesitate!
