Summer is officially over and Autumn’s in the air!
A new season is nature’s way of pressing the “reset” button and lucky for you, it’s an opportunity to reinvent yourself a little.
Here are some of my favorite ways to Refuel for Fall:
1. Start a new ritual: My summer ritual was nonexistant. I like to think of it as a transitional time since David and I both left our jobs and I was settling into life as a full-time entrepreneur. Now that I’m settling into a regular schedule with some structure, I’m also leaving some space for a little less structure.
One of my most rejuvenating, feel-good new rituals is taking time one day per week to ride my bike to my favorite late-morning hot vinyasa class at Prana Power Yoga, then stopping by City Bakery for a green juice on my ride home. Its a simple ritual that makes a huge difference in my day and my week.
2. Buy Seasonal: It sounds totally cliche but there are so many fruits and veggies in season right now that are cleansing in their own rite — Brussels sprouts, beets, squash, turnips, sweet potatoes, apples and pears for starters. Get yourself to a Farmer’s Market and decide to try a new food, buy what looks then go to town in your kitchen.
Not sure where to start? Google the ingredient “+ recipe” or try this easy Fall Veggie Bake.
3. Makeover Your Workout: Whether you were totally active over the Summer or spent more time lazing by the pool than pumping iron in the gym, Fall is the perfect time to add a new element to your fitness regime.
- Take a new class: I’m still singing the praises of Chaise23, but I also love trying something new from time to time. Two on my list: pure barre and BUTI Fitness. I like to scour deal sites like Living Social or Groupon for specials on packages and some studios even have special offers for first-timers.
- Buy new gear: Most women don’t underestimate the power of a cute new tank or pair of shoes to motivate us into the gym. One of my new favorite fitness outfitters is Löle Women. Consider yourself warned!
- Download new tunes: Give your playlist an upgrade. Even a few new songs can do the trick. I’m loving this song by Luke Bryan right now because it reminds me of my home state, Kentucky.
4. Breathe the Air: Fall is the best time to be outside, but I’m totally guilty of getting stuck in the city routine and staying put. David and I are committed to getting out of the city more often this Fall, even if just for a day. Some of the activities on our to-do list, include:
- apple/pumpkin picking
- hiking
- touring the vegetable fields at Stone Barns
- exploring the suburbs (which involves me convincing him that we need to buy a house there!)
Tell me in the comments below, how you Refuel your Fall.
