Happy New Year! This year we stayed stateside for the holidays and I took some time off of blogging and my usual social media schedule. We started the week in Vermont for a short ski trip to kick off 2019. I’m thankful that our travel schedule was lighter this year and also for the time off. As far as years go, 2018 was pretty ok for me. There were some difficult moments – and likely more to come – which I’ll eventually cover in a separate post, we lost our grandfather which was heart-wrenching in and of itself but mostly there were a lot of highlights and memorable moments. So without further adieu, these are my memorably moments of 2018.
As you likely know about me, resolutions aren’t my thing and I’m not big on putting a lot of expectations on a new year. I consider my life a continuous journey and everyday is an opportunity to be better. If 2018 taught me anything, it’s to stay present and to be grateful for moments like these:
Memorable Moment #1: Three Years of Marriage and an Anniversary Trip to Napa
In March 2018, David and I celebrated three years of marriage and celebrated with a trip to Napa Valley. You can read more about the trip in my Napa Valley Travel Guide. I truly hit the husband jackpot with David and everyday I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to have found a true partner in him. There are also plenty of days I ask myself why I ever married him – that’s marriage!
Memorable Moment #2: The Bar Method Soho Closed
I couldnt re-cap 2018 without mentioning barre – it’s such an enormous and important part of my life. In May 2018, The Bar Method Soho unexpectedly closed. It was difficult for everyone but ultimately, that closed door opened two more and I was fortunate enough to find new homes at The Bar Method Hoboken and the newly-opened Bar Method Broadway. The Bar Method even published my original blgo post, A Beginner’s Guide to Barre, on their corporate blog!
Memorable Moment #3: My Niece Visited NYC for the First Time
My 14-year-old niece visited NYC for the first time in July 2014 and while I think she found it a little overwhelming, it was so special to show her the city where I live. We took a trip to the Jersey Shore, visited Times Square, shopped A LOT, ordered the insta-worthy milkshakes at Black Tap and watched the Fourth of July fireworks show from my rooftop.
Memorable Moment #4: South of France and Ibiza
This Summer, David and I took a beautiful trip to the South of France and Ibiza. You can read more about our Summer trip to the South of France and Ibiza. I’m forever in awe if this world we live in and all the beauty and culture I’m fortunate to experience.
Memorable Moment #5: Becoming a #NOWWELLNESS Ambassador for NOW Foods
I was invited to take a trip to Chicago visit the NOW Foods Factory in May 2018 where I would learn more about how this amazing natural foods, vitamin and supplements company has been committed to natural wellness for the past 50 years. I walked in knowing very little about the company and two days later left with a passion for their products and trust for a brand like I’ve never felt before. My enthusiasm for their products led to an opportunity to partner with the company as an Ambassador. You can read more about my trip to the factory here. Check out the products for yourelf and use my code – MARISSANOW10 for $10 off $40 or more.
Memorable Moment #6: Bar Fuel Workshops
Along with one of my fellow Bar Method Instructors who is also a Health Coach, we launched a series of wellness and nutrition workshops called Bar Fuel: How to Eat for Optimal Results at the Bar and a subsequent 4-week coaching program. We taught seven of these workshops at local Bar Method studios in the NYC area and are continuing to do so this year.
Memorable Moment #7: Turning 40 + A Birthday Trip to Bermuda
In October 2018, I turned 40. It was an age I dreaded for almost a decade but once it finally arrived, I embraced it. I never thought I would feel as healthy and happy as I do at 40 and I was fortunate enough to be able to celebrate my birthday both with my family in Louisville, Ky. and also with my husband in beautiful Bermuda. Read my Bermuda Travel Guide and 40 Lessons I Learned by 40.
I’ve continued to share more freely and frequently on Instagram but this blog is still alive and well. You can continue to expect content at least twice a week here. I know last year I promised a re-brand. Well, let’s just say that for reasons outside of my control, it didn’t happen but I’m anticpating it will this year and soon! Wherever you’ve kept up with me, a sincere thank you for sharing the year with me. I wish you lots of health, joy and love in 2019!
