As you know by now, I’m a total Sakara Life enthusiast and I get so many questions about Sakara that I thought I’d put together a little Sakara FAQ post for you, an ultimate guide to Sakara Life, if you will.

What Are Sakara Life Meals Like?

Sakara meals are 100 percent plant-based and nutrient-dense created in alignment with Sakara’s nutrition pillars. The meals vary week to week, feature organic and local produce and are planned based on what’s in season. While they aren’t entirely vegan, you won’t see any animal products except for honey. Everything is, however, gluten-free.

In a nut shell, Sakara’s Signature Meal Program eliminates meat, dairy, gluten, refined sugar, pesticides, harmful chemicals and GMOs.

Is Sakara Worth It? How Much Does Sakara Life Cost?

I actually answered this Sakara FAQ in my honest Sakara review that’s a separate post, Is Sakara Worth It? In terms of how much it costs, a full week of meals costs around $400 if you order a la carte. If you have a subscription, the cost is slightly less.

In addition to my Sakara discount code, there are some other ways to save on Sakara by opting for fewer meals or fewer days of the week for more price flexibility. 

In my opinion, Sakara is a luxury product. So in that case, I consider its value outside of the monetary spend. Sakara saves me time – time from grocery shopping and time in the kitchen. It also saves me money on takeout, delivery and restaurant bills. All of that combined with how good I feel eating healthy, plant-rich makes Sakara worth it to me.

Is Sakara a Detox?

Sakara is not a detox, but you will be eating very clean, healthy and energizing food. With Sakara, you get a minimum of 6 cups of leafy greens per day, 70 plant species on your plate and at least one cruciferous vegetable per meal. All of that is detoxifying in and of itself!

That said, Sakara DOES have a detox! The Sakara Level II Detox is a 5-day whole food cleanse that eliminates inflammation triggers and floods your body with plant-based nutrition. It’s created in collaboration with Dr. Aviva Room, a functional medicine doctor.

The Sakara’s Level II Detox eliminates meat, dairy, all sugars (including fruit), grains, nuts, soy, nightshades (potatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and chili peppers), pesticides, harmful chemicals and GMOs.

Is Sakara Life Low Calorie?

Sakara doesn’t publish calorie counts or macros on their meals. Sakara’s nutrition philosophy is that not all calories are created equal and that calorie counting takes away from trusting your body’s intuition. After all, 500 calories of kale is much different in nutritional value than 750 calories of cookies.

Based on my own nutrition knowledge, Sakara is likely lower calorie overall than other meal delivery services but not so low in calories that you can’t feel satisfied. First, Sakara offers large portion sizes so you’re getting a filling, satisfying and nutrient-dense meal. Also, Sakara includes the most delicious sauces and dressings with most meals. Typically, these are oil/fat-based and are calorie-dense to offset the lower calories in the plant-based meals.

My hack to make my Sakara meals more nutritionally balanced is to supplement with my own protein to make the meals even more filling for my own specific needs.

What Results Can I Expect with Sakara? Can You Lose Weight with Sakara?

The longer you eat Sakara, the more lasting results you will experience. Sakara is meant to be a lifestyle change. Over time, you’ll notice weight loss if you have weight to lose, more energy, better digestion and clearer skin.

With the Level II Detox you can expect an overall reset to heal your gut, restore your metabolism and release built-up toxins. Participants have reported more focus, better digestion, less bloat, clearer skin, more energy and weight loss. The best way to maintain the results from the detox is to continue on with the Sakara meals and lifestyle once it’s over.

Most Popular Sakara FAQ: Should I Choose the Sakara Signature Meal Program or the Sakara Level II Detox?

They’re both great programs and you can eventually do both, but if it’s your first time ordering Sakara, definitely choose the Sakara Signature Meal Program (Level I). This is best for anyone who is new to plant-based eating or is looking for something sustainable that can be done week to week. Furthermore, if you travel a lot or have an active social life and want flexibility, this is the best place to start.

Choose the Sakara Level II Detox if you’ve tried Sakara before or if you already eat a plant-based diet and you’re looking for a deep detox for a reset and to potentially uncover unknown food sensitivities. If you’re willing to clear your schedule for five full days and completely commit to your health (and eliminate intense exercise, caffeine and alcohol) for that timeframe, you’re ready for Level II!

How Does Sakara Life Work?

Sakara is a meal delivery service. Once you sign up with an account and input your zip code, you can see the following weeks’ menu. You can then select what program you’d like (Signature Meal Program or Level II Detox). When selecting the Signature Meal Program, you will select whether you want to try it once or get a subscription. You can then select which meals you’d like (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner) and how many days per week you’d like to receive meals. Calories and carbs can seem scary. If you’ve b Calories and carbs can seem scary. 

If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ve probably heard me say it before, but I’ll say it again: Eating fewer calories and fewer carbs is not the recipe for weight loss. 

In TRIM, we calorie cycle and carb cycle. 

This means we eat fewer calories on some days and more, or regular, calories on others. For carb cycling, we do two back-to-back low carb days. 

We pair our lower calorie days with rest days and our low carb days with HIIT workouts. 

Mot days, we’re eating in the “more” range for calories and carbs and that can be difficult for women who are used to restricting one or the other – or both! 

Your body needs carbs and calories for your metabolism to fire, muscles to build and to fuel your body for daily activity. 

Limiting one or both to see a quick and short-term drop in weight (and it WILL be just that – quick and temporary), will damage your metabolism making it harder to lose weight in the future. It can also affect your thyroid and adrenal function. 

To see lasting results, you have to fuel your body. 

That’s why in TRIM we CALORIE CYCLE and CARB CYCLE so your body gets the fuel it needs. 

Calorie Cycling keeps you in a caloric deficit and Carb Cycling depletes your body of glycogen. Both can help with weight loss.

Here’s what to expect week-by-week in my 7-week program: 

Onboarding Week: You learn the process and practice the program 

Week 1: You see less bloating my implementing small, simple habits 

Week 2: You feel your body start to change. You’ll want to get on the scale and take measurements, but DO NOT do this because they will provide no valid data to support how you feel and you’ll get discouraged. 

Week 3: Water weight and bloat are almost completely gone and fat burning is starting. Your clothes will fit different.
