Golden Milk Recipe

Golden milk recipe - Marissa Vicario - Health Coach

One of the hottest trends in wellness right now is brightly-colored latte drinks that tout plenty of health benefits without the caffeine of a traditional latte. I’m loving them right now because I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but sometimes I crave a creamy and comforting hot drink. I’ve talked about my love of matcha lattes before, but I’m also crushing on golden milk.

Yes, golden milk is enjoying a recent rise to fame, but there’s nothing new about it. The healthful concoction, featuring turmeric and other spices is a traditional Indian medicinal drink originally called haldi-doodh.

The main ingredient, turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory while the supporting spices like black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove do the same. Some versions of this recipe may also include ginger and cayenne. The ingredients are considered to have warming properties which can help boost metabolism and support digestion.

Put this beverage on your to-drink list ASAP. If you can’t find one at a nearby cafe, take matters into your own hands and make it at home. My version eliminates any sweetener, but add it to taste if you need it.
