It’s been many years since I’ve visited Toronto, so I had completely forgotten that it’s only an hour flight from NYC.
David and I spent a quick weekend in Toronto because a few of his family members, including aunt, uncle and cousin live there and his brother and sister and their families were making the trip to visit from the UK so we decided on a family reunion there.
Our main purpose for going was to spend time with David’s family, so we didn’t do much sightseeing beyond walking around the Yorkville neighborhood where we stayed. On Saturday morning, we left our hotel in search of a cappuccino for David and stumbled on Kit & Ace, a new-ish Canadian apparel company that specializes in technical cashmere. As luck would have it, this store in particular had a coffee shop attached to it.
A cappuccino for David, a new dress for me. Win-win if you ask me!
The food we had this weekend was particularly memorable, but we did love the Acai bowls from Revitasize and The Good Press, both in Yorkville.
Because we both had a long week, all we really focused on for the weekend was relaxing and spending quality time with David’s family whom we don’t see very often.
We were struck by how friendly everyone is in Canada and willing to chat with strangers, which is something that doesn’t happen in New York. Now we have a quick four days at home before we leave for Labor Day weekend in Vegas.
How was your weekend? Have you been to Canada or are you from there?
