@isshikimatcha is a gem and I'm so glad I found it @isshikimatcha is a gem and I'm so glad I found it. Loved the vibe, the matcha was smooth, the staff was friendly and the line was nonexistent. Someone somewhere recommended the strawberry matcha and ordering it was my only regret because it was a thick and clumpy strawberry jam which isn't what I like in a strawberry matcha. For that reason alone, I took off 2 stars for an 8/10 but I will go back to try a regular matcha latte. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿต

I was in the West Village for an event and hadn't had my matcha fix yet. I passed Aoko and made a mental note.

Then I proceeded to pass many more matcha cafes with long lines.

Aoko didn't have a line and it seemed authentic to me. Also, I recalled hearing good things.

The vibe was a little sterile. You order off a screen and there's a huge selection of matcha drinks and ice cream. Then wait for your number to be called.

I chose the Coconut Matcha Cloud. There was no description on the screen and the actual drink looked nothing like the photo.

It was a cloud of whipped matcha floating on top of coconut water with tapioca-like shapes on the bottom.

My expectations were low. But I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Once the whipped matcha mixed with the coconut water, it was incredibly creamy and I could tell the matcha was high quality. 8.5/10. I'll be back to try the regular matcha latte. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿต
