Juicy Friday

07/23/10

The humidity has been off the charts lately and after my morning run as I opened the refrigerator to gather the ingredients I would need for my morning smoothie, I realized we were out of almond butter! Still craving liquid refreshment, I decided a juice was the best thing to satisfy my craving. Instead of hauling out my juicer due to lack of time, I swung by Health King on my way to work for a delicious juice (knowing I would sacrifice organic fruits and veggies in the interest of time).

The selections can be overwhelming once inside, so before going, I consulted some of the many juice options from my “bible”, The 3 Day Cleanse. I knew I wanted a juice with an element of green added to it so I opted for spinach, blueberry, apple and lemon. I added some ice cubes to make it cold and I had a satisfying breakfast.

Juicing is an optimal way to cleanse, energize and consume a concentrated dose of vitamins and minerals. In fact, I recommend juicing to all of my clients as part of a healthy, well-rounded diet.

Here are a few of my favorite juices:

Pineapple and mint
Spinach, kale, green apple, cucumber, parsley and lemon
Strawberry apple, beet
Grape, cucumber, pear

What are your favorite juice combinations?

Next time you need a caffeine fix, have a green juice instead. I loved my morning juice so much today, I just might have another one for lunch!

As a full-time working mom with no nanny or family As a full-time working mom with no nanny or family nearby, my mom crew saved me this week.

It was the first week of Summer break, our usual sitter is away all Summer and most camps haven't started yet. I needed childcare while I worked.

My mom friends came through. They hosted playdates, shared their nannies and sent me information about classes their kids were doing so I could piece together an active and engaging week for Valentina before her camp starts next week.

Next year I will hopefully plan better but this week reminded me of how grateful I am to have these friends. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’•
