Last weekend I had the opportunity to travel to what is the warmest part of the country right now – Miami, Florida — I was there in a heartbeat to attend The Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s annual conference, a gathering of health coaches from all over the world. Imagine 2,000 of the happiest and healthiest people you’ve ever seen glowing from head to toe. Pretty spectacular! The weekend was a perfect reminder to me that sometimes in order to grow, it is necessary to step outside of our comfort zone.

Because I had planned the trip as an afterthought, I ended up flying in early Saturday morning and racing to the conference. I made it right on time (some things are just meant to be!). Once there, I was ready to get out of it, what I put into it. I knew a couple of fellow health coaches who were attending and made it a point to meet up with them. But I also made it a personal goal to meet new people. This can be a bit challenging for me since I have a tendency to be somewhat shy at first but luckily, almost everyone else arrived with the same intention.
I connected with a group of fabulous fellow health coaches from NYC. We shared a delicious meal and stimulating conversation. We all had so much in common starting with our passion for health and wellness that we were bursting at the seams to discuss anything and everything with eachother. We’ve planned to continue our newfound friendships with a Healthy Book Club we will start next month.

Other highlights of the trip included tons of inspiration, guidance on growing our healtch coaching businesses, opportunities to share our experiences and get support, useful financial advice, a surprise appearance by Lady Gaga (?) and two $1000 scholarships to offer to anyone who plans to enroll in the school this month!

Experiences like these make me so thankful I found a school like IIN and took a chance to travel to Miami alone to attend the conference. IIN has given me the opportunity to feed my passion for health and wellness with a career as a health coach that fulfills me in a way no job ever has. It has also allowed me to stimulate my entrepreneurial spirit by starting my own business. I’ve learned more than just how to eat for optimal health. I’ve discovered how to truly believe in myself, I’ve honed my public speaking skills and I’ve met people who, like me, want to help change the world!
If you’re considering a career in nutrition and want to take advantage of the $1000 scholarship to IIN (valid through February 28), leave a comment below and I’ll hook ‘ya up!
