How to Take a Detox Bath

04/05/16

how to take a detox bath

Have you ever indulged in a detox bath? It sounds a little strange, but I assure you, it’s not!

In my forthcoming book, Your Holistically Hot Transformation: Embrace a Healthier Lifestyle Free of Dieting, Confusion and Self-judgment, I address the familiar and albeit, trendy, topic of detoxing.

In case you’re wondering, I don’t condone it via an all-juice cleanse or any other type of plan that masquerades as a quick-fix diet.

To find out why, you’ll have to read my book.

But, I do happily promote gentle detoxing in the form of self-care and in the book I address several types of self-care that work double-duty to detox the body – most of which can be done in two-minutes a day.

One of those self-care practices is a detox bath.

The term “detox bath” sounds more complicated than it is.

It’s Epsom salt dissolved in a bath of warm water. Adding essential oils is optional. That’s it!!

Epsom salt, which you can find for a few dollars at any drug store (but I prefer Epsoak Sleep Formula by San Francisco Salt Company), is Magnesium sulfate which has many natural health benefits, including:

  • soothing sore muscle
  • cleaning the pores
  • detoxifying the skin
  • flushing toxins from the body
  • easing stress
  • promoting sleep

Every time I take a detox bath, I emerge the best kind of relaxed and sleepy. It comes in a close second to a really good massage – and even better than a lot of massages I’ve had – at a fraction of the price!

I highly recommend doing it in the evening before bed.

To make the bath:

  1. Add 2 cups of Epsom salt to a warm running bath
  2. Settle into the bath
  3. Soak for up to 20 minutes

You can also make a foot bath using 1 cup of Epsom salt. Dip your feet in for up to 10 minutes.

While you’re soaking, let yourself relax – no phone or distractions allowed!

If you’re feeling ready to turn over a new leaf and re-commit to a healthy lifestyle focused on eating real food and learn abut more simple and natural detoxifying self-care practices like this one, I have something for you – the 5 Day Holistically Hot REBOOT. Completely virtual. Done on your time, from your home + it includes a meal plan and recipes. This program is available for a limited time only. For all the details, CLICK HERE.
