Healthy snacking on-the-go can be a struggle. We often forget to plan ahead and end up grabbing something in the midst of an energy crash when we’re at our “hangriest”. Trust me, I’ve been there and let me tell you from experience, that always results in a less-than-healthy choice. Usually, it’s sugar-laden or if it’s healthy, I’m out $12 for a so-so smoothie.
One of the most common questions I get from clients and on social media is what are some healthy, on-the-go snacks? Most people rely on some type of “energy bar” for healthy snacking on-the-go, but I have yet to see one that isn’t full of sugar (yes, even dates count) and at least a little processed.
I worked with dubdub in their studio to put together this short video to reveal a few of my whole food-based favorites for healthy snacking on-the-go. There are endless options, but the ones I’ve chosen to highlight are basic. Many are probably items you have in your kitchen right now. We tend to over-complicate things so my strategy is to keep snacking simple and look for excitement in other areas of your life.
These are a few of my requirements for healthy snacking on-the-go:
- Combination of fiber, fat and protein
- Easy to prep in advance
- Portable
- Require minimal refrigeration
- Taste good, satiating and energizing
