Healthy Living Summit Recap 2013

09/19/13

Healthy Living Summit recap 2013

I confess, this year I discovered I love going to blogger conferences where I don’t know anyone and in cities I’ve never been to. Of course, this may sound crazy for an introvert like me, but sometimes I surprise myself. Last weekend, I went to the Healthy Living Summit in Minneapolis, Minn. and in May I went to Bloggy Boot Camp in Charlotte, Nc. I’m so excited about this conference that I can’t help but write a Healthy Living Summit recap – as bloggers do.

At both conferences, I made so many connections with bloggers I’d never met and it totally re-energized me. So why do I like going to these conferences alone?

Sure, it would be great if I already knew people, but I decided that not knowing anyone shouldn’t hold me back. People go to these conferences looking to meet like-minded bloggers and make connections. That alone means there’s nothing scary about joining a group for dinner or striking up a conversation with a total stranger. It gets me out of my comfort zone and helps me grow as a person.

I’ve realized that there’s an ENTIRE world outside of my local health/wellness/blogging community (and it’s pretty awesome). Moreover, it gives me the chance to make new friends from all over the countries (I learned that these people are called blends: bloggers + friends).

So without further ado, here is my healthy Living Summit recap.

Healthy Living Summit 2013 Highlights

  1. An insanity workout that left everything sore, including my armpits

3. On Saturday, I ran six miles before sunrise with a new running buddy. I usually run alone but I loved running with Katie. We kept a good pace and great conversation.

This is a new-to-me boutique jewelry brand. The pieces are stunning, hold meaningful affirmations and are just incredibly wearable.

I even got to meet the Founder @jennlow.wco who explained the meaning and inspiration behind the pieces.

There were so many beautiful pieces to layer and try on. I chose the Heart Locket Necklace to take home.

Inside it says "follow your heart" and it can be worn open or closed though I like it opened best.

I was also eyeing the You are Magic Medallion Locket.

So I bought that too!

Such a fun morning in the West Village! I can't wait to wear my new jewelry! 💚💋🪎 #wcocommunity
There is so much beauty and nature in and around N There is so much beauty and nature in and around NYC and so much to see and do. We've been taking advantage of the perfect weather and venturing beyond our neighborhood with Valentina to show her all this incredible city has to offer. Last weekend was @metcloisters and @forttryonpark , which brought me back to 2007 in the city when I would circumnavigate Manhattan on my bike starting at the East River down to the The Battery and up the Hudson River to The Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park then back down the East River through Harlem- a 30 mile round trip. We enjoyed a long walk and explored the stunning gardens inside the park before perusing the museum. The perfect way to spend a holiday Monday. 💚💋🏰
