Spring is a time of renewal and refreshment, it signals new beginnings and for many in the wellness world, that means embarking on a detox. You’re probably familiar with detoxing or “cleansing” in some way, but hold up: I’m not talking about anything drastic. Why not try a gentle spring detox?
Why would you even want to detox? The answer is simple. Toxins. We’re exposed to countless sources of toxins from food, the environment and even people in our lives! Your body is built to detox naturally, but it’s always a good idea to support the natural detoxification process by giving your body a little break and flooding it with good-for-you food and self-care. The change of seasons is a good time to do it – and the good news is that you don’t have to do an all-juice cleanse. You can create a gentle, at-home spring detox using these easy strategies:

We’re exposed to countless sources of toxins from food, the environment and even people in our lives! Your body is built to detox naturally, but it’s always a good idea to support the natural detoxification process by giving your body a little break and flooding it with good-for-you food and self-care. The change of seasons is a good time to do it – and the good news is that you don’t have to do an all-juice cleanse. You can create a gentle spring detox at home using a few easy strategies:

  • Sip hot water with lemon every morning to flush and re-set your digestive system
  • Take a detox bath with Epsom salt
  • Flood your body with nutrients from raw and lightly cooked plant foods
  • Break a sweat every day with gentle exercise or try an infrared sauna to remove toxins from your bloodstream
  • Cook at home to avoid the sodium, unhealthy oils and other additives added to restaurant and prepared food
  • Get a good night’s sleep to reduce stress and boost metabolism
  • Try a gentle detox to transition from heavy winter foods to lighter spring foods and boost energy
Practice these tips throughout the year to gently detox anytime, anywhere. Real food and the right self-care can help you feel more vibrant all year long.

I have been wanting to try @matcha_116 since I had heard good things and it's a short walk from SoHo in Greenwich Village. There was no line so I was happy.

The interior is bare bones which is totally fine with me, but I wouldn't necessarily say we got a warm welcome when we walked in. We were the only customers.

I thought this woman was a customer, but it turns out she was making the matcha! The woman who took my order was on the other side of the counter.

This was the set up.

I ordered the16 oz Uji matcha over ice. Milk options were oat or whole. I chose oat. Honestly, the matcha was 10/10. Strong and smooth, just like in Japan. Would totally go back.
