Almost ten years ago I started this blog to share about health and wellness out of my passion for what I was learning as a student at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I knew relatively little about blogging, but over time I’ve learned more. Although this blog is somewhat different than most of today’s blogs, it remains a meaningful place for me to share some details about my life and information about holistic health and wellness. However, I’m painfully aware that my regular blogging came to a screeching halt over the past several months. I’m not sure when it happened, but I do know why.
First, my life and career got busy in ways that didn’t involve a computer. I started teaching barre classes and thus found myself behind my computer less. Additionally, I was hired by Emblem Health to teach nutrition workshops around New York City regularly. That, added to my current health coaching client load, gave me even less time to write.
Next, I got addicted to Instagram. I love how easy it is to post a picture and a few lines of text to share a message on the go. In the absence of time, it became my go-to.
But being busy isn’t a good excuse – ever, so there’s more. I’ve been working on a re-brand and knew that my blog would soon get a refresh which made me even less motivated to keep this years-old space up to date. However, that refresh has taken longer than expected.
Finally, I had some personal stuff going on that I hoped to have figured out by now and writing about unrelated topics in the midst of it, seemed inauthentic to me. I know many bloggers will write through their personal struggles and while I considered it, I decided that’s not what I’m about. As a coach – a teacher – it’s important for me to go through something, learn a lesson and then write about it to pass along my insights. I’m just not there yet with this. Give me time, a post is coming.
In short, I gave myself permission to take a break from blogging.
But I miss it. I have all along.
In spite of everything, I’m more committed to this space than ever, to my readers and to my mission of inspiring women to learn to make slimming, nutritious and energizing choices without fad dieting.
My hope has always been to bring a fresh perspective to the plethora of wellness information on the internet and to continue reinventing this corner of the internet as often as necessary.
