In the Winter, after I teach a barre class or finish my workout, I make a beeline toward home to hibernate. In the Spring, it’s not quite the same. The warmer weather and longer days mean that I make more plans and don’t mind spending extra time outside. These days, I’m packing my gym bag accordingly, so I can transition from studio to a night out with these six gym bag essentials for Spring.

One // Lululemon On Repeat Bomber. A light sweatshirt for layering is a must. 

Two //Hoka One One Jupana Knit Jacquard Sneakers. My sneakers need to be light enough to stash in my bag for a shoe change or cute and comfy enough to transition from studio to street. 

Three // A BPA-free Water Bottle. I have a daily water quota and in order to hit it, I have to carry my water bottle with me. 

Four // Dry Bar Triple Sec. I love the travel-size version of one of my favorite 3-in1 hair products. This instantly refreshes ponytail hair and gives my it instant texture, volume and body. 

Five // Fresh Vitamin Nectar Antioxidant Glow Water. Also in travel-size, this light and versatile face mist gives my face a refresh after a sweat sesh and adds instant glow. I love that it can be used under or over makeup. 

Six // Harvest Snaps Green Pea Snack Crisps. As far as gym bag essentials for Spring are concerned, this one may be the most important because I never go anywhere without snacks! These Harvest Snaps Green Pea Snack Crispsare the better-for-you snack that is perfect for an on-the-go lifestyle. Personally, I like something crunchy and savory especially if I’m meeting friends or my husband for dinner and drinks. They are made from wholesome green peas, red lentils or black beans. For a post-workout snack, they have an ideal balance of carbs, fat and protein and the flavor options are endless from Lightly Salted to Tomato Basil. I’m loving the White Cheddar and Parmesan Roasted Garlic! You can find them in the produce aisle at your grocery store.

A Willingness to Keep Showing Up

I step into this new year
gently, without resolutions,
with just a simple willingness, 
to keep going,
to keep moving forward.

Not the bright, declarative kind of decision
that arrives with banners and promises,
but the quieter kind,
the one that asks for nothing grand.

No transformation.
Just an honest effort
to place one foot in front of the other,
without needing it to be a victory march.

To keep going isn’t strength.
It’s letting the days arrive as they are,
some heavy,
some hollow,
some unexpectedly kind.

It’s allowing grief, fatigue, memory, and love
to share the same room,
without insisting that any of them leave.

There is no list.
No reinvention.
No deadline for becoming someone new.
There is only the steady choice
to remain present,
to trust that willingness itself
is an act of grace.

So this year begins
not with resolve, but with intention:
the intention to stay present,
the intention to try again tomorrow,
the intention to simply keep showing up.
