2014 Reflections & 2015 Thoughts

01/05/15

2015 thoughts - Where I Need to Be

Happy New Year, friends!

While a lot of the blogosphere was busy posting inspiration, healthy recipes and special offers to ring in 2015, I was taking some time away from blogging.

Since everyone considers the first Monday in January, the real start of the new year, I’m getting right back on schedule with blogging today.

The truth is, the passage of time (like birthdays and new years) tends to bring on some anxiety for me.

As a recovering type A perfectionist, I’ve always felt like time is of the essence. Old habits die hard, so you can imagine how it feels for me to celebrate another year gone by.

Like, WHOA!

Instead of keeping up with blogging schedules, promoting programs and powering through the holiday season, I find my energy is best reserved for family, friends and taking some time off to reflect.

So I did.

David and I spent a wonderful Christmas with my family in Louisville, I caught up with some of my closest and oldest friends there and had an inspiring and honest reading by a Medium.

2015 thoughts - Where I Need to Be2015 thoughts - where I Need to Be

We came back to New York City for a few days to regroup, then made our way to Aspen for New Year’s Eve where we skied, explored and relaxed.

2014 was a time of massive change for me, yet part of me feels like I wasn’t finished.

The year flew by and by the time it ended, I felt like I was just getting started.

A few of the highlights:

  • I got engaged in Paris
  • We bought our first home together
  • Ran the New York City Marathon a second time with a new perspective
  • I re-evaluated how I want to run my business
  • Re-connected with old friends, made new ones and let go of others

I want to point out that these are the highlights. On my blog and in social media, I focus on highlights. It’s not to present my life as picture perfect, because it is not in any way. But, I like to focus on what’s positive in my life to create more of it.

Now, with a new year here, it’s tempting to want to turn over every new leaf from a new workout to detoxing to setting revenue thresholds and more.

I’ve blogged before about forgoing resolutions in favor of setting goals and creating intentions.

Setting Goals and Getting Results

Intention Setting and Goal Mapping

But this year, I’ve decided to do none of that.

Instead, I’m flowing into 2015 with clear visions of who I want to become and where I want to land and taking action on it in very defined ways – exactly what I was doing by the end of 2014.

In short, nothing has changed.

Except, I’m not putting expectations on myself.

I’m slowing down and attracting what is mine rather than pushing to get it.

The moral of the story is that you don’t have to wait until January 1, or Monday or any other time to start over, create change, forge new habits.

Every day, every minute is another chance to start again.

You just have to decide you want it and go after it – wherever you are, whatever it takes.

Start small, start big, just start somewhere and know that wherever you are, is exactly where you need to be.

P.S. Two ways I’m choosing to spend more time in 2015 is with my Inner Health, Outer Shine group program with Sarah Kay Hoffman (still some time left to join us) and my Holistically Hot eCourse (sign up to be the first to know about pre-release special offers).

I love this post so much. I too get anxiety with the passage of time! You worded it so perfectly. I truly loved meeting with you last year – it was life changing – and I so wish we could still meet in person to chat. I feel like we’re so similar! I just hope I can be like you and get a clear vision of who I want to become…and act on it! I’m having trouble figuring that out.

    Anyway, happy new year!! xo
