I’ve been a blogger for going on 8 years. I never thought I’d be among those who start healthy living blogs but when I started studying to become a Health Coach, I really wanted somewhere to share the information I felt passionate about. Since that day, my blog has always been my little patch of the internet where I could publish anything I want.
I’ve always struggled with sharing too personally, so I choose to share information, nutrition tips and sometimes, recipes. I’ve gone from blogging regularly to not at all, to frequently, to occasionally and everything in between. There have been times when I’ve questioned whether I want to keep it up, but my heart always tells me the same thing – don’t give it up.
I’ve noticed an evolution of sorts among healthy living blogs lately. Many are changing direction and others are abandoning their blogs altogether. It saddens me that perhaps healthy living blogging as we used to know it may be dying just a little. Some of my favorite bloggers have signed off and in the process of my outreach for my book, I’ve read other final posts from bloggers saying goodbye.
Everyone has their own reasons for exiting the blogosphere. Some have outgrown their blogs, become parents, started new journeys, fallen out of love with blogging. I don’t judge and I respect that every blogger does what she feels is best for her, her health, her family and whomever and whatever else is affected by blogging.
But for me? I’m staying right where I am. I may not always be consistent with blogging, but I do it for me as a creative outlet, to share products I’m passionate about, to connect with other bloggers and with women who want to learn to trust themselves to make nutritious choices without fad dieting.
For all these reasons and more, I’m staying right here where I am.
I’d love to hear your take on the evolution of healthy living blogs. What have you noticed and what do you think?
