Earlier this month I paid my annual visit to my eye doctor. Prevention is a priority for me so I’m always vigilant about visiting my doctors even if there’s nothing outwardly wrong with my health.
I eat healthy food everyday and exercise six days a week, so why shouldn’t I think about taking care of my eyes with an annual exam, especially with all the screen time we engage in these days? Just like our muscles and organs, our eyes need regular care to perform at their best.
Think About Your Eyes, a national public awareness campaign that promotes the benefits of eye health, recently surveyed regular gym-goers and found that some neglect their eye health despite being conscious of general health and fitness. A regular comprehensive eye exam with an eye care professional can detect eye problems at the early stages when they’re most treatable. An eye exam can even help your doctor detect early signs of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
