Eager to clean my eating slate for a few days and try another cleansing ritual that I might be able to recommend to my clients, yesterday I began my first day on the Blue Print Cleanse. I decided to go with their three-day Juice til Dinner cleanse, not a true cleanse but a hybrid of juice and raw food. Because what I’ve learned after all these years inside this supercomputer is that it needs a little food to operate. The basic idea is that you juice all day long and then eat a raw food dinner.
Sounds easier than it is. It’s important to note that I timed this cleanse with a week that my boyfriend was traveling for work and when I had very few social engagements so as not to sabotage my efforts.
On Sunday the juices and meals (along with a “sweet treat”) arrived for each day. Packaged in a cute little box with cold-packs and some simple instructions. It felt a little like receiving a care package from your best friend.
Day 1 of the cleanse felt like I was starving myself. To my body, I was.
There are two green juices each day, a sweet juice and a lemonade reminiscent of the Master Cleanse concoction. Everything went down smoothly and I was all the more excited to sit down with my modest-sized meal of yellow pepper and thyme soup (creamy and had a nice kick to it), zuchinni with spicy almond sauce (yay for chewing!) and cinnamon mousse (yummy!) later in the evening. I’m not sure if it was due to my ravenous hunger but the food really was absolutely delicious! I would eat it on a regular basis.
The physical effects after day one were few and far between. During the day I felt a bit spacey due to my hunger but I did sleep better at night. I felt my hunger intensify at certain times of the day like between 11 a.m. – Noon and also around 3 – 4 p.m. After 5 p.m. or so my hunger subsided. This is very typical for my body even when I’m not on a cleanse.
Stay tuned for my Day 2 update tomorrow and my final word on cleanses as I wrap this one up.
