After attending the Tara Stiles yoga event at the Reebok FitHub Union Square last week, I went back again for a running event with Olympian and Reebok Running Ambassador Carrie Tollefson where I also got to try out the new Reebok ZQuick running shoe.
Carrie led a group run from the FitHub to the New York Public Library.
She was super friendly and chatty on the run so each of us got the chance to speak with her personally. Since I’m training for the NYC Marathon, I wanted to know Carrie’s #1 marathon training tip.
She told me not to underestimate the importance of a long run and to use it to learn about what your body needs and how it responds to fuel so you can be as prepared as possible on race day. I know I often dread my long run and want to get it over with so much that I can get sloppy with it and just want to finish. Carrie’s advice was a great reminder to be present and get all the information I need to run my best race.
We ran at an easy pace which was perfect since it was supposed to be a rest day for me. It also gave me the opportunity to meet a few new friends, including two other Fitfluential Ambassadors, Ava and Jocelyn.
Reebok provided the shoes, the Reebok ZQuick which are light and comfortable and offer great support for a neutral running gait.
When we returned to the store, Reebok provided some post-run fuel, gift bags, massages and Carrie demonstrated a few helpful post-run stretches that emphasize the hip flexor, an often neglected muscle, but important for preventing running-related injuries.
I also had a chance to explore the new FitHub. The store is clean and spacious with walls of shoes, and so much stylish fitness gear I could go crazy. The store also has LocalLink, a service that lets you customize your gear with any saying or graphic of your liking.
Be sure to check out the free, ongoing classes and events for every fitness interest – and of course while you’re there, the latest in fitness fashion from running to yoga and CrossFit – at all the Reebok FitHub stores in New York and New Jersey. Click here to sign up before they fill up!
I could definitely get used to hanging out – and working out – at the USQ FitHub.
