This week I’m getting ready for the Athleta IronGirl Triathlon in Sandy Hook, NJ on Sunday. I’m equally nervous and excited, hoping to reach my goals. I’ll be back with a full update after Sunday, so until then, I wanted to let you know about a race series to help end hunger that kicks off right here in NYC plus a special giveaway.
Women’s Health Magazine and The Feed Foundation are holding the 2nd annual RUN10 FEED10 10k philanthropic race and wellness event that helps fight domestic hunger. The concept is simple, register to run a 10K and feed 10 people in the NYC community.
The race series kicks off in New York City on September 22 and thousands of participants will run down the West Side Highway to Hudson River Park where a post-race wellness festival will feature yoga sessions, nutrition and beauty consultations and great giveaways.
Glee’s Naya Rivera will perform her new single LIVE for the first time in a special concert for the runners and there will be nutrition demos from Food Network chef, Ellie Krieger and meet and greets with Olympic soccer star Alex Morgan.
Good Morning America will be broadcasting live from the event with meteorologist Ginger Zee chatting with runners and special guests.
WHO: Join Women’s Health Magazine, FEED and its founder, Lauren Bush Lauren, and thousands of amazing men and women runners in the fight against hunger. Plus special guest celebrity host to be announced.
WHAT: It’s a simple concept: Run a 10K and provide 10 meals for those struggling with hunger in New York. Last year, RUN10 FEED10 raised 1 million meals nationwide.
The day will include:
• An unforgettable experience running a 10K for those in need
• Limited edition FEED bag and bracelet for all runners
• Pre- and post-race activities including guided stretches and yoga with a special guest trainer
• Tons of freebies, experiences and giveaways from FEED, Dove, Degree, Lipton Tea, Simple, Kellogg Nourish, OPI, Vaseline Birkenstock, Panasonic Beauty, Sketchers, Cigna, Ford Fiesta and more.
WHY: More than 50 million Americans are food insecure, meaning they don’t know from where their next meal is coming. The reality is that there is enough food in the world for everyone to get the nourishment they need for a healthy and productive life. The other reality is that we can do something about it. Together, we can make a huge impact in a very simple way. All you have to do is RUN!
WHEN: Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 7:00 AM
WHERE: Pier 84 at Hudson River Park; Run takes place along the West Side Highway
HOW: Sign up for Run10 FEED 10 at www.run10feed10.com. Included in your race entry fee is your donation of 10 meals and a limited-edition FEED bag.
