Notes from the Weekend: Vegas, Baby!

09/06/16

You either love Vegas or you hate it. Even though we don’t gamble or stay out past Midnight, David and I are in the love camp. We love the weather, the restaurants, the shopping and the shows.

It had been a few years since we last visited, so we decided it was time to go back. With Hermine in the forecast for the long weekend, we were glad to be Vegas-bound  – guaranteed sunshine for the last official weekend of Summer.

I have to be honest, though, sometimes I feel like Vegas is stuck in a time warp. Life has moved on in so many ways, but Vegas is always, well, Vegas.

I’ve wanted to see Celine Dion in concert for awhile, but she wasn’t there this weekend so we opted for Mariah Carey instead. She put on a great show and we had a lot of fun dancing and singing songs I forgot I knew. David was a good sport.

We were totally moved and awed by La Reve, the Cirque de Soleil performance. Total sensory overload. It was everything and we had the best seats which even got us a little splashed by the water. There were so many good pictures that I couldn’t decide what to share here so I chose my favorite.

The rest of the weekend was spent working out, shopping and lounging by the pool. We stayed at the Wynn which boasts some of the healthiest food in Vegas, but I was underwhelmed by some of the options. Most restaurants, however, were accommodating to dietary restrictions.

We even found an organic juice bar, Juice Farm, within walking distance of our hotel and in the most unlikely of places – inside a casino – so I could happily feed my acai bowl addiction.

Now that we’re back home, I’m looking forward to the onset of Fall and feeling more grounded than I have this Summer. We have some new furniture on its way I have some organization projects I’ve been putting off for far too long.

How did you spend your last official summer weekend and what are you most looking forward to this fall?
