Since I’ve mentioned that my weeks and a majority of my weekends have been consumed with a big project I’m working on, David and I decided that for the long weekend, we would have an all-day date on Sunday – a Sunday Funday, if you will. I remember when Sunday Funday was synonymous with hanging out in bars all day. This Sunday Funday was very different.
We started out with brunch at Bluestone Lane. There are several locations around the city and the menu reflects Australian cafe culinary themes, which are focused on healthy food that doesn’t require heavy cooking. We waited for 30 minutes for a table and another 30 minutes for our food, but everything was so good and the service was so friendly that the waits were forgivable. Besides, we were blessed with 60-degree weather in February so the place was super busy.
I couldn’t decide on any of the three wellness lattes – matcha, golden or beet – so I chose the wellness flight which gave me a taste of all three. I also had the avocado smash with a poached egg on gluten free toast. David had the red baked eggs and a cappuccino. We’re obsessed and want to go back to try the rest of the menu.
After brunch, we headed up to Central Park for a stroll. The park was PACKED. We walked and walked and walked until we found ourselves in Midtown for an early dinner and glass of wine at Hillstone, one of our favorite standbys.
Fully fed and worn out, we headed home to relax and get ready for the week. A perfect Sunday Funday.
How did you spend your long weekend? What’s your ideal Sunday Funday?
