Having run the NYC Marathon twice, marathon weekend here in NYC always gives me major marathon FOMO (fear of missing out). Last year I didn’t have it because David was running, but this weekend I felt it in a big way, yet I have zero desire to run a marathon right now. Somebody please exlplain how that works!
The weekend was relatively low key. On Saturday morning, we volunteered at the New York Road Runner’s Dash to the Finish. We usually run this race so it was a big change to be volunteering at it. I was a Start Marshal, which meant I helped people cross the street and find their way to the race start.
I was completely underdressed for the weather and freezing so I was probably the worst volunteer NYRR has ever had.
On Saturday night, we tried a new Thai Restaurant in our neighborhood, Thai Villa. So good. I usually steer clear of Thai food because I never know if it’s gluten free. I also typically don’t feel well after eating it. This Thai food was different. It’s locally sourced and all the gluten-free menu items are labeled as such. We devoured everything we ordered. I’m already craving it again!
Sunday started with a short run. For breakfast, I couldn’t decide what I wanted more, so I made two of my favorite brunch recipes from the I Quit Sugar program – the Apple-Studded Dutch Pancake (above) and the Berry Omelette (below) – before settling in to catch up on work.
How was your weekend? Low key like mine or more exciting? If you’re in NYC were you involved with the marathon festivities?
