I’ve gotten some great feedback on my Notes from the Weekend posts and to be honest, these have been some of my favorite to write, so I’ll keep doing them, even when my weekends are mundane, like this past one.
Being that this weekend was the first one we were home in what seems like ages, I frantically tried to catch up on everything all at once. Wrong move because I ended up feeling overwhelmed and unaccomplished. Looking back, though, we did get lots done.
On Friday night, we checked out the Grand Re-0pening of one of our favorite neighborhood spots, Follia Osteria, which moved just down the block – even closer than before, which could be dangerous on cold winter nights. The place was bus-y and we snagged the last two seats at the bar. I like that I can indulge my pasta cravings here because they offer gluten-free pasta.
On Saturday, I went to a yoga class at Reflections Yoga. I remember this space when it was in Hell’s Kitchen many years ago and it has since moved to Murray Hill/Gramercy – much closer to me. This was my first time at the studio (I’m doing a meditation and book signing event later this month with owner, Paula Tursi at Lululemon) and I loved the space and the class. I’ll definitely make regular visits.
David and I have been planning on making some updates throughout our home so we spent Saturday afternoon at Bloomingdale’s taking advantage of their sale to buy bedding and add a few pieces to add to our everyday china. A cashmere sweater may have also fell into the bag!
We love mezcal and tequila so Saturday evening we visited another new neighborhood spot, Casa Neta. It’s a cute little tequileria with a small food menu and good cocktails.
Sunday was more yoga and home errands topped off by the movie, Sully, about Captain Sullenberger who was named a hero after successfully landing a plan on the Hudson River in 2009 with no casualties. There was a lot of insight around the NTSB investigation that followed which the public never really heard about. Great movie and an excellent performance by Tom Hanks, but if you’re afraid of flying, like me, be warned.
How was your weekend? What neighborhood spots do you love to visit?
