Living so far away from my family is difficult on holidays like Easter when I typically don’t go home. It’s always been an important holiday in my family and based on experience, is also well-celebrated in New York City. Luckily, we were blessed with record high temperatures yesterday so there was even more reason to celebrate.
I kept things pretty chill most of the weekend as I was finishing up a gentle detox and of course co-teaching at The Bar Method.
David surprised me with beautiful Easter flowers and a bar of dark chocolate for post-detox on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday, we went to Mass then made our way to brunch at Fowler and Wells at the Beekman Hotel. The food was a little heavier than I had anticipated and in hindsight, we could have totally gone with an outdoor patio given the sunshine. I ordered the grain bowl with beets and requested two fried eggs. David went with the porchetta.
After brunch, we roamed around Westfield World Trade Center to get a peek at the new Eataly Downtown which is even more amazing than the Flatiron location.
Finally, we were eager to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and warm weather. I had my first glass of rose of the season (what detox?) at City Vineyard at Pier 26. If you go, get the Banshee rose.
