Given that we were #blessed with perfect weather this weekend (sunny and a little cool), David and I decided to get out of the city to enjoy some time in the suburbs.
We drove to charming Princeton, New Jersey where we checked into a hotel, had lunch at Nassau Seafood Company
After lunch I grabbed the spiciest chai latte I’ve ever had at small world coffee which was so good.
After, we drove to Terhune Orchards for apple picking and wine tasting.
(Scroll down for an easy and tasty recipe for baked apples).
When we got back to the hotel, I squeezed in a quick workout before we changed for dinner.
We had dinner at Agricola Eatery, a farm-to-table restaurant that serves food from its own farm, 70 percent of it is organic. The service was better than any we’ve had in a long time and the food was delicious. We stayed at the bar after dinner because we were enjoying the ambience so much.
After plenty of sleep, we had some breakfast, stopped by Homegoods for housewares to decorate our new bar cart and did a grocery run at Whole Foods before heading back to the city.
After living in New York City for 12 years, I will forever appreciate what to me feels like the luxury of driving a car to a supermarket, parking in a lot, having plenty of space to wheel your cart through the aisles, waiting at most a minute in line and loading your groceries into the trunk of your car to drive them home. If this is your normal, don’t take it for granted. Until you’ve lived somewhere this is not possible, you may not get what joy this brings me.
