In an effort to inject a more personal element into my blog (and share pretty pictures that have nothing to do with health and wellness), I’m starting a new semi-regular series I’ll call Notes from the Weekend, where I’ll provide a short recap of the weekend’s activities. I’ve always talked about it being difficult for me to get too personal on this blog, paired with the fact that I don’t think my life is exciting enough for anyone to want to read about, BUT I love the personal posts on the blogs I read so I figured I should write more of what I like to read about. Makes sense. Here goes!
This was our view for most of the weekend.
David and I ventured down to Charlotte, NC to visit our friends who recently moved there from New Jersey. I love getting out of the city any chance possible so I was more than happy to make the quick trip even though we had just returned from a 12-day trip to Greece and Italy the weekend before. New York City is intense so I admit that I feel the need to escape more often than not.
The flight to Charlotte is just over an hour so – barring the flight delays we had – we were there in no time. Our friends live North of Charlotte in a town called Cornelius on Lake Norman. Lake Norman is a man-made lake that is 50-miles in radius. The weather was a little spotty with rain showers all weekend, but we still got plenty of time on the lake in their new boat.
We were impressed with everything from the big, beautiful homes and all the cute nearby shops and restaurants to the neighborhood Yacht Club and it definitely made us think more seriously about where we see ourselves in the future. I, for one, crave community and being able to drive my car to the grocery store and shopping center while David loves the energy of a big city and having everything at our fingertips.
Now we’re tempted to start exploring other cities with warmer year-round climates and a lower cost of living.
What are your favorite US cities that you’ve visited?
