The Benefits of Matcha Green Tea with Kiss Me Organics {Recipe}

06/02/14

matcha green tea

This post is sponsored by Kiss Me Organics Matcha Green Tea, culinary grade green tea powder.

We’ve known for years that green tea is a powerful drink. It’s actually considered one of the healthiest drinks, aside from water, and has been part of Asian culture for hundreds of years.

Why so powerful? Green tea contains natural chemicals which give it anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties which can promote clearer skin and easier weight loss.

But even more powerful than a typical green tea bag is Matcha, the whole tea leaf ground into powder (with regular green tea you soak the leaf and drink the water).  The Matcha powder is mixed with hot or cold water to create a drinkable tea. By consuming the whole leaf, you get even more potent benefits like:

  • High levels of antioxidants, potentially even the ones that fight some cancers
  • Calming effect (contains L-theanine which promotes relaxation)
  • Improved dental health
  • Better digestion
  • Reduced bloating
  • Weight management
  • Detoxification of the body

For coffee lovers trying to kick the caffeine habit, try substituting your daily cup with this Matcha Green Tea Latte from Marissa’s Well-being and Health Intern, Samara

Matcha Green Tea Latte

matcha latte1 tsp matcha green tea powder (I recommend Kiss Me Organics)
1 cup not-quite boiling water (boiling water will kill the live enzymes in the tea leaves and lessen the benefits)
1/4 cup almond milk or milk of choice
1 tsp coconut sugar (or a few drops of liquid Stevia)
Cinnamon

Add the matcha green tea to a mug, pour the hot water over it and stir until any clumps are gone, add your preferred amount of milk and coconut sugar then stir and top with a dash of cinnamon.

Drink 30 mins before or after a meal.

This past weekend we took advantage of the weather This past weekend we took advantage of the weather and left the city for a hike. The last time we had been to @rockefellerstatepark was in April 2021 (almost to the day) during the time we don't talk about and before that right before Valentina was born when my walk was more of a waddle, so we were due a visit back. We had forgotten that what makes this hike so special is that one trail leads to @stonebarns agriculture center where you can stop and have lunch or just grab a refreshment. Highly worth the one hour drive out of the city. Swipe to the end to see a baby Valentina in what has become her happy place. 💚💋🥾
