Lolë Women at the Yoga Journal Conference {what to wear and what to bring}

04/08/13

YJNY What to wear & bring Where I Need to Be

Two days, 12 hours and 6 classes.

I spent the weekend at the Yoga Journal Conference and I couldn’t have done it without Lolë Women, one of my favorite activewear brands for women.

I stumbled on Lolë this summer when I wore their flattering, comfortable and functional tops both during my tri training and for the race. After that I was hooked on the fashion-forward, sophisticated brand.

For the conference I wore their Savasana Tank Top in Fusion Coral with the Salutation Leggings in Storm (Elena Brower wore the same but in different colors to teach the Lolë-sponsored community class) and topped it all off with the Balasana Cardigan in Storm.

I loved the fresh spring colors and how comfortable and dry these clothes kept me both during and between classes. I was concerned about the long tank top and how it would fare during a rigorous class, but it moved with me and never rode up or got in the way.

These clothes go seamlessly from studio to street. You’ll find me just as easily wearing them on a casual weekend afternoon while running errands as during a yoga class.

Best of all, the Lolë brand values well-being which is always something I stand behind.

David’s even looking forward to the day they come out with a men’s line!

Aside from wearing something comfortable that you feel confident in and dressing in layers, here are a few other tips for what to bring to the Yoga Journal Conference:

1. Travel light. Just carry the necessities. It’s tempting to want to pack a bag of stuff but try to resist so you’re not lugging a heavy bag around. You’ll get a pretty awesome gift bag you’ll want to hang on to which will add to your load.

2. A mat

3. A pair of shoes that are easy to slip on and off

4. A water bottle – the conference provides plenty of filtered water so bring a bottle you can refill.

5. A notebook and a pen – some of the teachers made some really good points I wanted to jot down so I liked having a notebook with me. Of course, you can always make a note in your phone. I’m just old fashioned and like to write in a notebook!

6. A phone charger – if you plan to check email between sessions, take photos and use social media, bring a phone charger. The Hilton had several power sources for charging devices.

7. A block or strap (nice to have but not necessary)

8. Healthy snack or meal – this is also optional. Do some research beforehand to see what options are nearby. There was an Organic Avenue pop-up shop for green juice and vegan food near the Hilton and there were plenty of healthy snacks on site so I found the extra snack I brought wasn’t necessary. If you have a special diet or if you’re particular, bring something with you.

My course of study for the weekend:

How Yoga Empowers Us with Desiree Rumbaugh
Detox Flow Yoga with Seane Corn
Revealing Ease: Balance Your Systems with Elena Brower
Sitting Steady Amidst the Chaos with Sat Siri
Hip Hop Asana with Jules Febre
Yoga of Message, Marketing and Money with Sadie Nardini

Check back later this week for a few highlights.

Small daily rituals are said to regulate your nervous system and for me, creating a skincare/wind-down ritual at night has transformed my evenings so now I look forward to them rather than dread them.

Best matcha: @overlookcoffeecompany for sustainability sourced coffee and smooth matcha. The owners are cool too. This is a well-kept secret because not even the mountain guide knew it was there.

If you go, these are can't miss. Mountain towns are hit or miss and most everything is a miss, but the skiing and scenery make up for it. 💚💋🏔️
