Happy Thanksgiving!
I have always loved Thanksgiving. Of course, because of the food! But more than that, I love the time I get to spend with the people I love in my hometown, Louisville, Ky. Having lived in NYC for almost 8 years, there’s nothing like spending a few days in a slower, smaller town catching up with family and friends. I used to take for granted things like lots of space and driving in a car, but now I savor those simple pleasures.
To remind myself to be thankful everyday, I often make gratitude lists either on a piece of paper or even just in my head at the end of a long day or before I get out of bed in the morning. These are a few of the things on my gratitude list this Thanksgiving:
- Family traditions, new and old
- A close and fun-loving family
- Friends who love me for me
- Nourishing food and the knowledge of how to prepare it
- A supportive and loving partner
- My clients who teach and inspire me
- A career that fulfills me beyond measure
- The education I received at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition which has helped make my dreams of living in alignment with my passions come true
- My spirituality that keeps my life flowing daily
What is on your gratitude list this Thanksgiving? Whatever it is, I wish you the warmth, love and light of the holiday.
Read last year’s blog post, Who Needs Turkey When There Are So Many Sides, about how my family held onto our age-old family traditions but created some new, healthy ones of our own.
