I’m convinced that even if you live in a big, expensive city like New York City, you can still achieve fitness on a budget. In fact, I’d bargain that you can even create an entire WEEK or MONTH of free or inexpensive workouts using the resources this city has to offer (I haven’t tried this yet, but maybe a topic for an upcoming blog post?)
One place making this possible is Reebok’s FitHub now open in Union Square. I attended a free yoga class last week with Tara Stiles, founder of Strala Yoga, right inside the store. Yes, you heard that right. A free yoga class with Tara Stiles! Reebok even provided the yoga mats.
The class was Tara’s signature Energize class that really helped stretch me out and gave me an opportunity to playfully work on some of my hand and arm balances. The spot from Tara in forearm stand was icing on the cake.
Reebok provided the outfit for class, which admittedly was a little more dance than yoga. For a yogaclass, I usually like form-fitting clothes that move with me but surprisingly, I loved the baggy Whatever’s Good Yoga Capri. So comfy! The Watch Me Work It Bra was perfect and I loved the colors. But the Own the Floor Dance Graphic Tank while cute, was not yoga-friendly especially for Tara’s inversion-happy class. The knot in the back made Savasana especially uncomfortable.
To celebrate it’s opening, Reebok FitHub Union Square will have free classes with great instructors that you can sign up for in the next few weeks.
But it doesn’t end with the Grand Opening. Reebok will always have these free classes for a variety of fitness interests from yoga to running, CrossFit and more at all their FitHub stores in the New York and New Jersey area: Westchester, Garden State, Upper East and 5th Ave.
