I hope by now that it’s obvious that I’m concerned about what I put into my body. But this time of year I take my concern one step further to the Halloween treats I hand out to the kids. But that doesn’t mean I can’t still participate in the festivities.
Every year, I post a recipe for a Healthy Halloween treat. Last year’s was Raw Superfood Peanut Butter Cups.
This year’s is a snack I made for my pals at Equinox Wall Street where it was a huge hit! While you won’t be dropping this treat into trick-or-treaters’ sacks (read below for ideas on that), it is the perfect festive snack for your own kids (adults love it too!) and the only sugar is natural sugars from the dates (no dairy either!).
I found this recipe on Bethenny Frankel’s web site.
Healthy Caramel Apples
Ingredients:
3-4 apples, sliced (I love Marcoun which are local)
1. dates, pitted
1/4-1/2 c. nut milk
1 tsp coconut oil
dash sea salt
1 tsp vanilla
Blend all ingredients until smooth, starting with 1/4 c nut milk and adding more as needed. Dip sliced apples in caramel sauce and refrigerate until sauce solidifies.

Happy, Healthy Halloween!
