Applesauce is one of my favorite snacks when I’m craving a little sweetness after dinner. I usually buy the unsweetened jarred kind, but it’s relatively easy to make apple puree right in your blender without even cooking the apples first.
If you have a boatload of apples around right now, try this.
I freeze any excess and use it in baking and also in my signature Apple Pie Smoothie (recipe coming later this week).
6 apples of different varieties
¾ cup water
a few shakes of cinnamon
¼ cup coconut sugar, a healthy alternative to refined sugar
Note: If your apples are really sweet, you may not need sweetener. My advice is to leave it out. You can always blend it in at the end.
Wash, peel and core your apples. Chop them into small pieces and add them to the blender. Add the cinnamon and the water then turn on your blender to make the applesauce.
When its finished and the consistency that you like, you can add it to a storage container and put it in the freezer.
