I get the Sunday Blues really bad. No matter what time of year it is, when Sunday rolls around I usually have some anxiety about the week ahead. The weather was perfect yesterday so David and I took a long walk from home in TriBeCa to Eataly on 23rd Street. Yesterday was my day off of working out so the 2.5 mile walk felt good and released some tension. I have been challenging myself to find exercise in daily life rather than going all out all the time. I’ll write more about that in another post.
Also to take the edge off last night, I started a project I have been meaning to get around to for almost a year now. I am sprouting alfalfa seeds! I’ve never done this before, so we’ll see how it goes. If it’s a success, I’ll be sure to blog about it.
But today, I want to take some time to appreciate my neighborhood. I think I live in one of the best areas of NYC. It is quiet on the weekends, the cobblestone streets and warehouse buildings have lots of character and we have our pick of award-winning restaurants within steps of our door. My only wish is that the juice bars would make their debut here!
TriBeCa stands for “Triangle below Canal Street” and in colonial times was one of the first residential areas to be developed outside of the boundaries of the city. But more than just its residential claim to fame, TriBeCa housed bustling textile and shipping industries, was the center of the city’s fresh fruit and produce market and the site of American’s first skyscraper, The Woolworth Building.
I spent one Saturday afternoon strolling around with my camera taking in the sights of this historic neighborhood.
What is your favorite NYC neighborhood? Do you suffer from the Sunday Blues? How do you cope?

This was so cool, and really nostalgic for me. Reminds me of when I had time to just stroll the NYC streets, ah it was blissful! I dont think I have any specific favorite but I am def a downtown guy! So many more interesting details, more in my mindset…Yup, Sundays can be tough, best thing for me to do on a Sunday is be sure to exercise, getting out for a long gentle run or long walk really takes the edge off the upcoming week. Great post!
