I’m always on the pulse of the latest and greatest in fitness here in NYC, so when ClassPass (formerly Classtivity), a monthly service that gives members access to the best studios in their city ($99 gets you 10 classes per month), gave me the chance to try them out for a month, I was happy to oblige.
At first I felt a little overwhelmed. There are so many studios that participate and I wasn’t sure where to start. I made a list of the places I really wanted to check out and also prioritized a few of my already-favorite workouts, like purebarre and Revolve.
Then I got to work picking my classes. I discovered that a lot of the classes fill up quickly, so I had to book several days, if not a week, in advance. I’m a big proponent of scheduling my workouts into my calendar so this worked well for me since it helped me to plan my week of workouts.
I used up my 10 classes for the month within three weeks. I took 3 purebarre classes (3 is the maximum number of classes you can take at any one studio in a month) and 1 Revolve class.
And I tried a handful of new studios:
- 3 AQUA classes, my new addiction – there is something so calming about cycling under water but it’s also a challenging full-body workout! Hello, sore back and triceps.
- Fire flow yoga class at Studio 360, a gem of a cycling + yoga studio in Midtown
- Fitness Runs, no hiding in the back of the class for this small-group strength and speed interval workout. Think 30 minutes sounds like a breeze? It’s sure to make you a faster, stronger runner.
- Row House – one of the latest additions to the ClassPass line-ups (CP added something like 10 new studios in April alone – so you’re sure to never run out of classes to try). Row House is a CrossFit-inspired full-body interval workout that’s a must-try.
If you love trying new workouts and varying your exercise routine, ClassPass is a perfect and affordable way to feed that healthy addiction.
