Brighter and Tighter Skin? Sign. Me. Up!

07/26/11

If you had told me – even two years ago – that a body brush would become a regular part of my beauty routine, I would have bet every skincare potion and product I’ve ever owned that you were wrong. At first glance, dry brushing seems like a strange practice, but after trying it out a few times and getting the hang of it, I was hooked.

What is this strange beauty regimen? Aside from being one of the best ways to brighten the skin and diminish the appearance of cellulite, it is also cost effective and relaxing.

How does it work? The bristles of the brush work to stimulate below the surface of the skin to get the blood flowing and the lymphatic system pumping promoting circulation and breaking down pockets of fat.

How can you try it? Natural-bristle body brushes and mitts can be found at any health food store and cost between $7-$10. Once you have the brush of your choice, start at your feet and make upward sweeping movements along your legs, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, shoulders, chest and back. The whole process takes two to three minutes before showering. Do it daily for the best results!

What I love about it: Slowing down and bringing more intention to my days is becoming a daily spiritual practice and for me that means, prayer, meditation, exercise and dry brushing every morning — all before checking email!

Thanks for sharing your experience with dry brushing. Cellulean reviews mentioned it really helps in fighting cellulite but I was hesitant to try it. With your positive comments above I will surely try this at home.

    Hi Marissa,

It's funny because dry brushing has been incorporated into my morning routine for the last 2 months and I absolutely love it! My skin feels better and looks better – no more red bumps and much smoother. Here's the post I wrote about it: https://www.creativesoulinmotion.com/2011/06/my-recent-obsession-with-dry-brushing/.

I love your blog by the way!!
