Every morning I comb the wellness blogs and web sites in search of health and happiness tidbits for the day. I always land at The Well Daily, one of my favorite sources for the latest on wellness trends and information. It’s like my daily dose of health and happiness all in one site. In a world where there is so much clutter on the web, The Well does a tremendous job of sharing information in a way that is easy to consume and digest. One of the brainchildren behind it is co-founder Sukey Novogratz.
Q1. What is the #1 wellness practice you live by? That thing that you do every day without fail because it revs you up from the inside out.
A. I meditate every day.
Q2. The premise of the blog is that wherever you are in life, is exactly where you need to be. How did you get to where you are today?
A. Partially because there was no other choice – the only way out of the stalemate my life had become was meditation and yoga.
Q3. What was your biggest transformation along the way?
A. Letting go of anger and learning that nothing outside of me could complete me. I already have all I need.
Q4. If you could only own five items, what would they be?
A. meditation cushion, my jade pendant, my cozy bed, yoga mat and time.
Q5. What is the theme song for your life right now and why?
A. Let Your Life Speak – a Quaker mantra. It’s my litmus test as to whether or not I’m living with integrity and also – it’s a reminder to continually ask myself “what is my calling?”
About Sukey Novogratz
Known as “Swami Mami” by her inner circle and Twitter following, Sukey Novogratz inadvertently developed The Well Daily’s patent-worthy process for finding happiness. In a quest for better health (and to lose 50 postpartum pounds), Sukey stepped into a whole new world and changed the way she and her family live, even improving her once-failing eyesight. Thinner and happier, Sukey was content to live amongst the clouds with her husband and four children until her iBanker friend Jackie MacLeod demanded that she come down from the clouds and save both Jackie and the rest of busy-women-kind from their destructive lifestyles. Although many think Sukey was educated in an ashram, she actually went to Parsons and has a degree from Princeton. Today Sukey’s deep appreciation for art and writing is channeled into creating a beautiful brand and a soulful user experience for The Well Daily. Luckily, her reputation as a loving, centered Swami Mami is still intact even though she now has huge to-do lists, employees to manage and big business ambitions.
