My distance learning class at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition has an online forum on which students post discussions. Tonight, I read a post from someone who had given up on relationships because she had been lied to or cheated on too many times. Likewise, she didn’t believe that there was anyone good out there. It got me thinking about how to attract a partner. To put it simply: Don’t give up, call in.
The truth is, for the past five years – and until six months ago – I felt the same way. I had given up. I didn’t believe my perfect partner was out there. And that is exactly who I attracted. The most imperfect partners (for me) possible. I have stories that could make your jaw drop. But let’s not dwell on the past.
Today, I have the most loving, loyal and supportive boyfriend I could have possibly asked for. And guess what? I did ask for him. I’ve done a lot of dating, so some might believe I met David based on the law of numbers. But I know I met him based on the law of attraction. So how did I attract my perfect partner? Here’s how I did it.
How to Attract a Partner
First, I got clear and unapologetic about what I wanted. Furthermore, I made a list – yes, a physical list – of all 70 traits and characteristics I wanted in my partner.
Next, I overcame my limiting beliefs about why I didn’t deserve this partner. More importantly, I learned to love myself – for me and only me. The me without a partner.
Finally, I stopped being bitter and started appreciating each and every man that came before him. First, because it didn’t work out so I could clear space for the right one. Secondly, because they helped me make that very lengthy list.
And when I did all of this. When I really did it, David showed up. Likewise, I showed up for him.
So for anyone who has given up hope, have faith that your perfect partner is on their way. Believe that you’re getting ready for each other. Use this time to become the best version of yourself and appreciate every experience so far, it will make the reward much sweeter.
