Return to Eataly

09/05/10

After falling in love with Mario Batali’s Megamarket, Eataly, earlier this week my boyfriend and I returned yesterday afternoon to pick up some goodies for dinner. Much to our dismay, there was a line to get in, so we headed around the corner to Argo Tea where I sipped on iced Armenian mint tea and then we strolled over to… Read More

08/16/10

Fellow blogger Lindsey over at Sound Eats has launched a new site, Healthy Living Blogs. The question she poses this week: What does health mean to you? As a Health and Wellness Coach with a blog about healthy living, you would think this would be an easy one but as I thought through how I would answer, I realized that… Read More

Your Pantry Staple and 3-Ingredient Recipes

08/02/10

Over the weekend I was relaxing with this month’s issue of Real Simple and the question posed to readers was this: What is your favorite pantry staple? The answers ranged from pickles to pasta. I gave this some thought and figured mine would have to be tempeh. A product of Indonesia, tempeh is a high-protein fermented food traditionally made from… Read More

Stay โ€˜Rootedโ€™ This Fall

08/31/09

Every year around this time, I get nostalgic as summer draws to a close and the season starts to change. The dry heat and sticky humidity that radiate from the pavement before sunrise turns to fresher, cooler air and I prepare to say goodbye to sunny skies and sandy beaches and embrace rich harvests and crisp breezes. Fall is my… Read More

Kitchen Cordon Bleu

06/11/09

Being from an Italian family, my mom and grandmothers have practically spent their lives cooking. Homecooked food was a part of my upbringing. So you’d think I would know my way around a kitchen. My sisters certainly do. But I think the cooking gene missed me. Only since my late twenties, when I started to clean up my eating with… Read More

DRY JANUARY Some personal thoughts and observatio DRY JANUARY
Some personal thoughts and observations

๐ŸธI did it because I've always wanted to but my social life never cooperated. This time I decided to make it cooperate instead of waiting for it to.

๐ŸธI never had a "problem" with alcohol and didn't drink much, but thought I could benefit from a break as most people could

๐ŸธBeing In perimenopause sleep and anxiety have become an issue for me and I found that alcohol potentially exacerbated those issues.

๐ŸธAt first it was like breaking a habit as I found myself looking forward to my usual glass of wine on Friday nights to unwind, but I replaced that drink with a yin yoga class and sound bath that I love as a way to regulate my nervous system instead

๐ŸธI've enjoyed feeling more present when I go out to dinner or spend time with friends and exploring the many mocktail and NA drink options on menus has been fun. I've also been drinking more tea.

๐ŸธAm I going back to drinking? Not immediately or maybe not ever. I haven't decided yet but I do know I need more time to reap the benefits of this lifestyle before I decide.

I'll keep you posted!
