Gluten-free, Sugar-free Banana Bread Recipe

08/28/18

I’m pretty sure banana bread is one of my all-time favorite things in this world. I’ve had a number of go-to healthy banana bread recipes over the years, but I just recently created my own by combining elements of a few of my favorites. This one is a gluten-free, sugar-free banana bread recipe that uses cassava flour and absolutely no… Read More

How to Practice Mindful Eating

08/24/18

This post is sponsored by Gerolsteiner USA and Fit Approach. All opinions are my own.  In this fast-paced world of digital technology and instant gratification, most of us have fallen into the habit of operating on auto-pilot. We go through the motions, we multi-task and we move at warp-speed. In short, we’ve lost our connections to ourselves and others. I’ll… Read More

Why Vacation is Healthy + A Summer Trip to the South of France and Ibiza

08/21/18

Ever get vacation guilt? That feeling where guilt about lying around, ignoring your emails and not being productive creeps in? It happens and I daresay it’s happened to me. As much as I love vacation, as a small business owner, I tend to feel like the longer I’m on vacation the more my to-do list piles up. Apparently, it’s not… Read More

New York City Wellness Guide

08/17/18

Photo by Katherine Mendieta Photography Once upon a time, I had a corner of this blog dedicated to Healthy Hot Spots – local restaurants that served up “healthy-ish” food which at the time was harder to come by. That was then. Now, New York City is ranked among the 20 healthiest US cities and the NYC wellness resources available are… Read More

5 Healthy Pantry Staples to Stock In Your Kitchen

08/14/18

Doing the weekly grocery shopping is a task Iโ€™ll admit I donโ€™t always love. The weeks seem to speed by and inevitably, Friday rolls around and Iโ€™m back to weekly meal planning again. While I often have to force myself to stay on track with this task, the payback is worth it when we have healthy home cooked meals at… Read More

Three Summers ago my family and I came to Chicago Three Summers ago my family and I came to Chicago and there wasn't so much as a matcha cafe in sight. Now, so much matcha, so little time. Swipe through for my thoughts in each caption. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿต

The cafe itself had the cutest decor. The matcha had no flavor and all I could taste was the almond milk.

Refreshing and not too sweet. The blueberry lemonade was the overarching flavor followed by the more bitter matcha. Perfect balance.

Just a strawberry matcha. Nothing special and not the best I've had.

This was an authentic Japanese spot with a premium matcha experience. They hand whisk it in front of you and explain how they make it. I picked up a few tips. The matcha was authentic and rich. Only oat and whole milk options.

Hand whisking and explaining the process in detail.

Not a huge fan on oat milk in matcha because I think it overpowers the flavor. Overall, this was the most authentic like you'd get in Japan.

Tbh, this was a basic coffee shop matcha but I loved the coffee shop itself. I made the mistake of agreeing that the syrup which was a sweetener. I don't like sweetened matcha so that knocked a star off.

The most underwhelming of all. Drinkable but basic. Not bad, but I had too many other really good ones to measure against.

This place has it all. The vibe, tbe energy, the neighborhood, the creative drinks, the community and a nice staff.

This was the most delicious matcha I would give this place 1000 stars if I could.

The place was bustling but they kept it moving and the staff was friendly despite the crowds and heavy drink orders.

An authentic matcha experience with a modern edge. Seriously the best matcha and experience I've had at a matcha cafe.
